I have a guy on my sunday team, his friday team qualified for vegas. The problem is that due to work constrains only 4 of thier 8 can go. Does apa allow them to replace atleast one player so they can have 5 eligable players there?

Unfortunately you can't replace a player. My team was in that position last year. We went down with 4 players. What's even worse is that you can only play numbers that would allow you to stay under 23 if you had the people there. In our case we had two 4's a 5 and a 7. One of our 4's went up to a 5 and since we didn't have a 2 on our roster, only three of us could play! We made it to the 5th round at least.

!In that situation, I'd go with the 4, play hard with those 4, and enjoy Vegas when the team gets knocked out. It actually sounds like a lot more fun than managing an 8 player team.
If I ever play APA again, I'm making sure that at least one team member is named something generic. How hard could it be to find an alternate named Joe Smith?

Did you get prize money for the trip? If so it splits a whole lot better 4 ways. Upgrade your rooms, have a nice dinner, drink better beer, enjoy the event.

Our LO calls it weekly dues when you play with four and pay for eight. But if only four go to LV, it's called travel assistance. Meaning, the prize money for the four who don't go, goes back into his pocket, oops, I mean prize fund to be mysterically returned to all players during the coming year...right.

someone need to report the LO, he is making all LO's look bad. I hate leagues and that is just one of the reasons. The LO also deserve a meeting behind the woodshed.

Since there are only 5 matches I don't know how you would ever pay for 8, but I get your point. I too would be on tilt if the LO did this. What area do you play in? What did APA corporate say about this policy? Makes me appreciate a good LO.
When we went last year one of our players didn't go and we got all of the money. The only thing are LO said is that if we didn't go then we had to give the money back witch i don't understand we won we should be able to do with the money what ever we wanted even if we didn't go
Actually stay anywhere but the Riv. There's nothing worse then trying to check in when 4000 pool players are also trying to check in. it could turn into an 8 hour event and it ain't no fun
Interesting. One of my team mates is in an 8 ball team that qualified for Nationals however, he can't attend the because his wife is going to be recovering from surgery. The LO cut him a check right then and there for something close to $700 :/
Guess they do it a little different everywhere. Our LO asks us to sign an agreement that says if we don't go we will return the money. They've been burned by a team not going once or twice before
I believe that we were told to provide the itinerary to the LO and then we would get the check. In our case, the LO just wanted to make sure somebody gets to go to Vegas for the tourney. If you can't field a team, they send the team that got 2nd.
