APA night nonsense

I personally just enjoy the show. I know it's evil but I get a little kick out of seeing guys
melt down over something minor. It doesn't make me want to quit league, it means that
was a particular fun night.

That being said, your captain may need to go finishing school.
You can express the exact same thing in 2 different ways, and get 2 totally different results.

"Look I'm not trying to bust your balls or try to screw you over, it just looked like a bad hit to me.
We didn't get the ref to watch it, so it goes to you no matter what. If you're sure it was a good hit,
let's forget I said anything."

vs.

"Bullshit. I know what I saw. That was a f*cking bad hit and you're acting like nothing happened.
You might get away with it this time, because we didn't call over the ref, but we both know it."

In both cases, the basic facts didn't change: they disagree and it went to the shooter,
and everyone just has to live with it.

But the second guy turned a routine situation into World War 3
and now they're going to try to shaft you and fight at every opportunity.

Thanks for all the support. Great comments.

Apparently my captain has made some enemies. Partly because he the calls fouls when they happen. That together with the fact he is a SL7 and there is some jealously. He is a good guy, but he doesn't take any crap.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no excuse for anyone getting stupid drunk during a match. For many reasons. A couple of beers fine but getting stupid drunk is just dumb.

I spoke to my team and I will get with the captain.

1st things 1st. your captain cannot call a foul. he can ask.... that was a foul wasn't it ?

the call goes to the shooter no matter how blatant the foul is. unless you have a neutral observer watching

here is my .02 on what you can do.

on the nights you play these trouble teams ask your lo to be there.

if he cant be there ask for a div rep. if you don't have a div rep ask your lo to appoint one. every one of our divisions have a rep that takes care of problems on the spot such as the ones you mention.
fortunately we dont have drunks in our league. we had one a few years ago and i told my captain i refused to play on the nights we faced that team .next thing i knew he was gone...guess she took it up with the lo.

as some one else mentioned ..the scenarios you describe could be called un sportsmanship. have your teamwalk out that night and file a bad sportsmanship complaint.

as for some one not calling fouls on theirselves ..drunk or not . i used to play in a traveling money league and we faced a team that i found out quickly they had a player prone to making bad hits and not calling them. the 1st time he did it to me i asked ...its a foul right ? he said no it was not . i said ok wait right there.

i went over to another team playing 2 tables away and explained how this guy was known for making bad hits and not calling them. i asked if any one was willing to observe the match and we would reciprocate observing for them any time they requested.

when some one came over to observe the entire match my opponent complained . i told him we had a neutral observer to watch all shots since you don;t like to call your fouls. i did not have any more problem outa him.
