I see this thread still going.

Simply put the APA is the the death of real pool. A gigantic money grab for league ops and the APA corporation. Player payouts are pathetic, getting a couple hundred for travel to Vegas and a 5 inch trophy. Dumbed down game on dumbed down tables.

While I agree that the APA may be "dumbing" down the game by catering to the amateur while returning very little money back to the league player, I adamantly disagree that the APA is the death of real pool.

It is precisely those APA amateurs that after joining a league go out and buy predator cues, molinari gloves, kamui chalk, etc .. That revenue then finds its way back to support events such as the Predator 10 ball world championships along with the pro players who enter those events.

It's hard to find any evidence that amateur leagues such as the APA do anything but help pro pool.

This is a common early response. I think you have to take a snapshot a little later, after ratings are more established and people are trusting them

I don't mean that there is an actual issue with Fargo, it's an issue with some players actively avoiding Fargo events to keep their skill hidden. If some APA 5 starts playing in our tournaments and gets a Fargo rating of 600 after a few months, it is going to be a bit hard to explain how they are a 5 in APA LOL

More money to be made in tournaments than in the APA. I seem illogical for someone to skip tournaments just to manipulate their APA rating.

Exactly.. Why do you think golf courses run leagues...TO MAKE MONEY! How many golfers do you see that can’t break 90 but spend money on clubs and balls and everything else that goes a long with supporting the industry and no one cares. They are all golfers who love the game while idiot pool players act like its the end of pool that someone besides a player is making a profit. News flash .. if the only people making money off the game our the players how do you ever expect to get big sponsors to come back to the game.

APA does nothing for pro pool.

How many of these do you have?
Probably a vest full.

Business 101. But we live in times were people running the promotions should not make money and only the people playing, pro or not, are the only ones allowed to make some money. That's the AOC way!

Didn't APA sponsor our Mosconi Cup Team? Seems I heard that somewhere.

Basically this. I've never played in the APA and don't plan on to, but at least they were the only league smart enough to get in on that. It's more exposure for them.

I was just using that as an example of why someone would avoid a tournament that uses Fargo.

I love no national league.

Any house league that pays the room and the players, absolutely.

1.8 million sounds impressive.
Divided by 250,000 players equals $7.20...not impressive.

The league ops and corporate take a big chunk of the money. How much kickback do the casinos give? How much are advertisers paying? APA pays back around 30% to players. If you ran a tournament and paid out 30% you'd get lynched.

I suppose if you divide $1.8 million by the population of a single room it would sound more impressive. You got any of those?

Casinos give kickbacks to make money. Advertisers advertise to make money. Nothing goes anywhere without money. You wouldn't even have tables to play on if somebody wasn't making money to produce them. $$$ always come first - when are guys like you gonna realize that?

You’re completely clueless in this thread. Take your bullshit and hate somewhere else. The APA is the only league that has any sponsoring of anything Pro related. CSI is promoting, not sponsoring. You’re a ****wit with no clue.

APA players contribute approximately $54 million per year into the league, and yet only about $1.5 million is given back in prize money at the national level ($1 million for the team tournament, and $500,000 for the individual tournament.

If you want to go to Vegas, just buy yourself a ticket.

I think most people play because they enjoy it. Softball is the same way you pay all season and pay to travel, if you win you get a trophy and a weeks worth of drinking money but I don't hear a lot of people *****ing about the payout schedule. Entertainment costs money as does everything in life.
