Another Apology; There wasn't enough room to include this in my last post.
An apology to the promoter I mentioned in that last post, this was originally at the bottom of that post but it had to be shortened as the post itself had become too large.
Then I passed out trying to redact it.
Years later the promoter and I were both still upset at each other and like a man he came forth with his complaints to the MPBA (men's pro billiard assoc.) and presented his case.
After learning the truth that he'd had extreme financial issues concerning his association then the government came in during the tournament demanding their pound of flesh. His hands were tied.
Shortly after the tournament ended, the newly formed association had to declare bankruptcy.
Learning this I felt very small and apologized.
Then I presented my case to the MPBA and with 11 professional pool players on the board of directors, they came to a conclusion that I'd been wrong but because of the Monroe Brock situation I'd been put in all should be forgiven.
We shook hands and made up.
This promoter had no choice but to acquiesce to the government's demands. Of course he couldn't announce over the microphone what was happening.
Two wrongs never make a right and lowering my personal standards by getting involved with that nasty business way back when contained in my last post left a dark stain on the tournament and in my heart.
Years have gone by.
THAT PROMOTER HAS SINCE BECOME ONE OF THE LEADING FORCES IN THE GAME TODAY. HE GOT KNOCKED DOWN AND GOT BACK UP TO FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT.
WITHOUT A DOUBT HE'S A MAJOR FACTOR FOR POOL'S BEGINNING AND GROWTH IN EUROPE, ESPECIALLY WEST GERMANY.
HE'S KEPT POOL ALIVE IN THE UNITED STATES.
Hats off and raise your glasses for a toast, hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray.
Thank you Harold S..
My next post will be about my mental approach to pool, no more controversy.
