LOTS OF TALENT IN THIS GROUP OF PLAYERS!

JoeyA

Joey,

Not only was I the 32nd ranked player but I finished 24 - 32!!!! After last week's results, thought I might do better. Knew I should have stopped thinking!

Corey Deuel edged Shawn Putnam 8-6 in the finals.

Here are the results of last week's Tri-State Invitational: http://www.goldcrownbilliardseriepa.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Final-Report-Spring-2016.pdf.

Thanks to a significant amount of "Sponsors Prize" money that was paid only to the top 4 places (was that a calcutta, or something else?), it looks like Mr. Deuel won about $6,800, or 36% of the total prize fund.

Paul -- Please explain the meaning of "Break Count Average" and "Number of Break Counts."

I see in the front-page article that one of the rules was "no 3-foul". Is a stalemate rule used instead?

Yes, although it has not come up yet in any of my tournaments or leagues.

The 3-foul rule was shelved for the same reason that all early 9-balls were spotted: NO SHORT GAMES. Play every game out. To win the game, a player must legally pocket the 9-ball when it is the last object ball on the table. I have no fervent belief on the issue. It just seems to leave the players with a better sense about the outcome of a match.

I do the same in Eight-Ball. A short path to victory or loss does little for competition and dissatisfies the players.
