Well I just got wind of another price increase by Aramith that is supposed to go into effect on June 1. If you are thinking about buying a new set of Aramith balls you may want to do so soon. I'm a little over-stocked on Super Pros and Tournament Editions. PM me, or better yet email me for prices if you are interested in picking up a set.

What balls do they use on the Pro Tour?

It varies. On TV usually the TV edition of the Super Pros. Last year I saw a tournament where they were using the tourney balls.

Is the ANOTHER price increase? I thought they had one not long ago.

Mike, IIRC there was an event not long ago that used a TV set edition of the Tournaments. I thought you were going to look into that since no one could actually find a set of Tournaments in the TV colors for sale at the time. I'm not into the TV balls but I was curious about that.

CGT, you can't go by what is used at pro events because that depends on who is the ball sponsor. They'll play with those very "TV unfriendly" Elephant Balls if that's who steps up as a sponsor. But if Aramith is involved they will always use either the Super Pros or the Tournaments.

The Tournaments are fairly new and are now the top of the line Aramiths. But for years the Super Pros were their best balls and are still considered a very premium ball set. The Brunswick Centennials are the same spec as the Super Pros. It remains to be seen if Brunswick will go to the specs of the Tournament set for the Cents. The Super Pros and Centennials are still used at many professional tournaments. The Aramith Tournament set is getting some use in pro events where Aramith is a sponsor and they want the Tournaments to be used to promote the new ball. But the Super Pros continue to be used at many big events even though the Tournaments are on the market. The 2010 Mosconi Cup used the Super Pros as an example. Brunswick was the table sponsor but I suppose they stopped there and I guess Aramith picked up the ball sponsorship. But if I had to make a guess I would say that the Super Pros are probably used more than any other ball set at professional events.

I have both the Cents (i.e. Super Pros except for the graphics) and the Tournament set. You can't go wrong with either.

And Mike at cheapcues.com is a great guy to do business with. Excellent prices and even better customer service. :grin-square:

Thanks for the more detailed explanation DPP. Yeah I never was able to locate those TV Tourney balls, and yes this is another price increase, seems like they do about 2 a year now.
