Hi Fans,

Johhny Archer and Dennis Hatch will be playing an exhibition match from 7 PM to 10 PM on April 5 at Classic Billiards and Sports Bar in Rochester, New York. There will be a modest door charge of $5.00.

For those who do not remember, Classic Billiards was an excellent pool room from 1988 through 2011. The room closed for nearly two years and was recently re-opened by new management in the same location. Seven Diamond small tables and six large Diamonds are available for play. There's a full bar and the kitchen should be open by the event date.

I'll post more information as it becomes available.

I did not know that Classic Billiards closed but I'm glad to hear it's back. I played there for a time in the early 2000's.

Hi Jen,

Yes! The new owner has no history in billiards and he's going to run it as a BUSINESS!!!!! A real businessman running a pool room? All the early signs are positive. What he does not know, he asks for suggestions. It is way too late to get on the Joss Northeast schedule this year. Plan on seeing an event happen during the 2014 -2015 season. Of course both you and Keith would be welcomed. Tell Keith I'll get Bosco out of retirement just for him.

I saw Archer and Hatch last year in Elmira for twice the price and it was totally worth it.

I have to look at my calender; maybe I can get up there and stay at my sister's place that night.

I wish him luck, Lyn. I hope he listens to suggestions. The last businessman I saw try it lasted short of three years. He was not a player and what he actually knew about pool you could fit on the head of a pin. His entire experience was a few years of apa league play. Had an ego the size of North Dakota. Gods, I could tell you stories:rolleyes:

There's a wee bit of irony in Dennis at Classic. Actually, that was the first time I met Dennis in person. It was at a Joss tournament. Sunday night, they had a brutal snow blizzard, which I had to drive back to D.C. in to go to work. I was the only car on the road. There was a girl there nicknamed "Lips" that kept following Dennis around. :grin:

I think this is a photo of that event, the final 12. Pros used to play in many regional tours and were welcomed. Today, not so much. :frown:

Incidentally Jen, think the picture you posted was from the year Keither lost in the finals to Earl. Might have been the year before though. Those were the days. $5000 added.

That was a really cool tournament. Somebody filmed it, and I had a copy, but I cannot locate it. When I do, I'll post it up on YouTube.

Earl and Keith have always gotten along, even in the heat of the battle. Keith won't let Earl become unglued. Keith knows how to make Earl have fun, and that's what that finals was, even though Earl did win on the double hill, dag nab it, because Keith scratched on the break. :o
 
Why would they do this on April 5 at 7:00 PM, as there is a Joss Northeast 9-Ball
Tour event in Syracuse on the 5 & 6 of April. Makes no sense to me?

Agree wholeheartedly. Wasn't my choice of dates. Don't think Classic had a choice. Dennis and Johnny were in Buffalo on Sunday night. Date doesn't matter to me. I've seen their show before. Even though I will be at the Joss, I'll buy several tickets to help support the room. Actually the way I play, I should be back in plenty of time :banghead:. Oh well, as they said, I'm just Dead Money anyway!

2013 Super Seniors Champion, Jennie. Don't forget the word "Super" in there. And that fits Lyn to a "T." :thumbup2:
