Archer v. Sigel: Who do you like?

I think Mike would have a better chance in straight pool, in his prime i might take Mike, but now you gotta like Archer, two very class acts though, both great players. I remember my buddy telling me that out of like 120 times in the finals Mike wins like 113 of them,he was a great hot seat player. He used to be my favorite player when he played, very smooth, and a true class act. All the older guys were classy players, accept Earl and Mataya, they both give pool a black eye for sportsmanship, but entertaining to watch...

Ok Wow- will have to disagree with you here....sorry my definition of blackeye is dumping, savers or otherwise predicting the outcome of a match!

Elizabeth, if I read his post correctly, he is saying to "ACCEPT" Earl and Jimmy. Sounds good to me. ;)

Anyone who doesn't like Jimmy Mataya is a sour puss.

I would disagree with that too. Players like Nick Varner and Mike Sigel were certainly professional and excellent as ambassadors of the sport, but a 90s Earl was also great for pool.

You wouls have to say though, if it was prime time tv now, he would have to dump the arm weights, and various atrocities he appends to his javelin. Or TV would not suit him very well.

I will also say, attending a Straight Pool championship gives a much better impression on where billiards should be, and deserves to be.

You are entitled to your opinion....

I'm picking Cap'n Hook. I think Archer doesn't really show up unless there is a fat stack of cash involved even if he is in his own house. If there is undeclared action involved, we will find out really fast.

BTW, not sure about when this match was, but here is a preview of what may come:

Opening credits were good, Mike "Siegel". I loved watching Sigel play in his prime. He was the best.

This is going to be a great Match. I like Archer but it will be close. I hope they stream this one..........

Johnny has to have the advantage because he is still competing. Mike is such a natural player that I think he could get back into stroke with not too much effort. But is he going to put forth that effort? If Mike were to get into stroke it could be a match to watch. Lastly, if Johnny breaks from the side rail, he should win by a fairly large margin. I don't think Mike could get his break going because it takes a lot practice especially timing and mechanics. He would spend a lot of the match watching Johnny putting two's and three's together.

Winner: Johnny
