Archers Not So Comeback and Commentary

From all i heard about his newest joint was JA was pretty much just the face. Would stop in, have a few pops, shoot the shit and bail. Not conducive to staying in business. Weekend crowds tended to be pretty 'hoody' if that's even a word. And of course he blames others for the place closing. Whatever dude.
Pretty much spot on.

Hood is an understatement. I definitely watched my back walking to my car.

Johnny needs a career change. Some type of sales job where he can leverage his celebrity.
Mike Dechaine is selling windows and is probably making over $100K in a real job.
Johnny is young enough to turn it around if he wants to.
Yep, he ain't gonna make squat with pool. Make a good side hustle but he needs regular pay.

Johnny told us when he hung up the call.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I even said to him "I guess your wife's ok then" when he shortly there after seemed shall we say, unconcerned.
thats interesting you choose to believe him given all the flak hes taken

Believe what? That his wife was in a fender bender? This was a few years ago.

I have no clue where you're going with this line of replies.
with all the shade hes receiving here recently why would you believe it
who turns to strangers and blabs his personal business in a pool room lol

I guess you had to be there. He said his wife was involved in a fender bender earlier which is why he was taking her call in the middle of putting on a clinic. He informed us as a courtesy for interrupting what he was doing by answering his phone.

Do you have a theory as to what was really going on?

sounds like a good guy then

theory is still in development and with new light coming into the picture now
ill get back to you when i have cracked this case

I saw online that Oscar had donated $100 to a GoFundMe type page set up by JA (not sure if this was a meme or real life, but either way, had me creased up 😂)

I don't think many are justifying Archer's actions, or at least I'm not. I'm actually pleased to a certain extent that social media and AZ can be used to publicly shame people. That's something that we'd lost in our culture. Of course, what WE choose to shame can get interesting to say the least. I actually care much more about how a man treats his wife than I do about how he handles a pool related gambling debt. Call me crazy.

If you just look at the gambling debt in a vacuum -- it doesn't even register on the list of all-time pool screw jobs. Not even close. Just think about it from a personal perspective. How would you handle a guy that air barreled you for 100 bucks, only to later pay you 50, while acknowledging owing the other 50? How about if you knew you'd never see the other 50? Many have laughed about such things on this very forum. The player that pays ANYTHING after the air barrel is a pool playing unicorn. I know we're talking about more money here, but in some sense that makes it MORE surprising he hasn't ran from it completely.

I guess that can be viewed as me justifying JA's actions here. It's not. I'm just offering some perspective to those that are so outraged by it, while pointing out that he can still make the right decision and clear this debt unlike the guy from above that will forever dodge you in the pool room over 50 bucks.

Guess I'd like to see JA get things turned around but like many -- I'm guilty of watching this play out like a soap opera. Please don't shame me over it. 😉

If you were shooting at a vague, rambling, fence-sitting post you just knocked it out of the park.

human nature makes some or many idolize greatness in what they personally want to be. while at the same time overlooking the faults that the person they idolize has that would disqualify him or her from even being on that list.
and that is sad.

Maybe so. Certainly doesn't apply to me as I've had to deal with my own family members that have fallen short of expectations. I've treated them the same way I view this situation. You can learn about someone's character and use it to make decisions going forward, while still hoping they turn things around. That's sort of part of being a decent human.

In other words, one doesn't have to be a fool to extend grace towards someone. This is why Oscar has shown nothing but class here.
