I don't think many are justifying Archer's actions, or at least I'm not. I'm actually pleased to a certain extent that social media and AZ can be used to publicly shame people. That's something that we'd lost in our culture. Of course, what WE choose to shame can get interesting to say the least. I actually care much more about how a man treats his wife than I do about how he handles a pool related gambling debt. Call me crazy.
If you just look at the gambling debt in a vacuum -- it doesn't even register on the list of all-time pool screw jobs. Not even close. Just think about it from a personal perspective. How would you handle a guy that air barreled you for 100 bucks, only to later pay you 50, while acknowledging owing the other 50? How about if you knew you'd never see the other 50? Many have laughed about such things on this very forum. The player that pays ANYTHING after the air barrel is a pool playing unicorn. I know we're talking about more money here, but in some sense that makes it MORE surprising he hasn't ran from it completely.
I guess that can be viewed as me justifying JA's actions here. It's not. I'm just offering a perspective to those that are so outraged by it, while pointing out that he can still make the right decision and clear this debt unlike the guy from above that will forever dodge you in the pool room over 50 bucks.
Guess I'd like to see JA get things turned around but like many -- I'm guilty of watching this play out like a soap opera. Please don't shame me over it.
