Archie the Greek Cues

I gotta say...that Gina I would not give you 200 bucks for. I am sorry, but that is just not a pretty cue.

i thoght meucci cues were ugly until i saw that gina.

Big deal. I won $200 with my Phillippi that I'll sell for $250,000. It has real points, too!!! Howz that?!?!?!

Clueless

I am again going to bear my ignorance of pool lore here.Someone tell me the story of Archie The Greek or please refer me to a thread, post, etc.Did this fellow actually win 20 million or has the figure grown as the story was retold? If he did win that sum why are his cues on Ebay.I have heard many stories of players winning large sums(albeit not that large) and losing it gambling on something other than pool but you gotta really work at it to loose 20 million.Thanks,M.Sellers

I agree Shorty, I wouldn't want that Gina to use as my break cue. I don't know where in the world he came up with that design, but i'm sure you've heard the old saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure!".

That's the way I heard it. Wayne knows the exact story, let's see if we can get some help.

I believe he won a lot more then that. As far as losing it, not much of a problem when you are gambling millions every night. I doubt he is selling the cues himself or even owns them. They probably belonged to him at one time and someone else owns them now and they are using his name trying to add some additional value to them. I am sure he has a cue to play with nicer then those two.

I wouldn't pay the Photographer 10 cents an hour either.

Here's one version thanks to Rip. Still hoping to get Wayne's story:

Hi Tate:

I never got to play Archie pool. He came over to Players once to play me for some high stakes and everyone in the pool hall had "pooled" their money so we could bet it up but when Archie got there he said I thought you were a different Wayne and didn't want to play me.

Most of his big scores have been in poker but he has played some high stakes pool also. He won a million dollars off of Steve Wynn (the owner of several Las Vegas casinos) playing pool, of course a million dollars to Wynn is probably like a hundred bucks to most people and I believe Archie has been a millionaire and lost it all many times so it doesn't mean much to him either.
