Was curious if using any aiming devices legal in pro tournament? Not that any pro would be using one. Was curious if an automated shooting cue activated by a trigger would constitute as an aiming device or drawing a line on your shaft to help you define and confirm your line of aim?

I remember reading in the BCA rules that training aid are now allowed. I would guess your local tournament wouldn't care.

In my mind if you take up any extra time at the table you shouldn't be allowed to slow the tournament down but drawing a line on your shaft.....no ones business....not in my opinion.

At the rate technology develops it won't be long before you can wear GoogleGlasses that analyze the table and next shot, tell you what english to use and how hard to hit, and when you're zero'd in on the correct line of aim; all in a "heads-up" display in the glasses.

However, it probably won't happen because the large amount of investment necessary vs. the small size of potential customers. Perhaps another sport will develop the basic technology first (i.e. bear most of the upfront investment cost) and a pool company can adapt it to pool.
