Are high dollar sets killing the small action in the pool room??

Tell Bobby McGrath Frost says what's up. Yeah that blanket statement isnt true for all because I also know some really strong guys in Jersey that also play league. Your area in Peoria is loaded with some high talent, for what it's worth IL is arguably the toughest area in the country to play league. I'm with you brother I ran into some of those boys at Nationals myself.

the blanket statements about "league players" is funny....some of the best player/gamblers in my area ALSO play in leagues. Yes, I mean the guys that you call when roadplayers come in looking for a game. It just must be this area, since on this board "league players" is some kind of mark of a fish...lol. One local won VNEA 9ball in 07, and he has no problem betting it up with the big boys....(and I mean "known" players, like a few mentioned on this board A BUNCH, known for their gamble and game).

will do, I see him at least a couple of times a week... Throw the Quad Cities into the mix for strong players, and this area (within an hour or so of here) becomes pretty darn tough!!! Being pretty much half way between St. Louis and Chicago makes for quite a few visits from roadies too. Which is always nice ;)

While most the *good* players in most towns play some sort of league, you are not making a good point. In our town for example there is 1,000 league players, and 2 of the 5 top players in town play in those leagues. So the majority of the people who play league fall under this blanket very well.

League players typically dont know how to handle the pressures of gambling or even singles tournament play for that matter. Mostly because the typical league player is a APA 4-5 and who can they beat who is willing to play $100 sets.

come to cape girardeau missouri. we got plenty of leauge players that will gamble way more than a $100 a set. most just play leauge to keep in stroke plus a free trip to vegas is always nice for leauge winners. so come on over and lets pump up the bet.

I'm moving to Iowa, Des Moines to be exact...wonder what the hell I'm in for? Seems like the Midwest league boys got gamble, call me crazy but I just love the odds.

Sure thing man, you got some 4-5 skill level APA players who will play higher than $100 sets, ill bring a couple guys and 10k down. Lets bet it up.

come on down!!!!!!

Richardson, I will jump in with some of the backing assuming I know who the 1-2 players we are talking about. Let me know if we are going to road trip.

Mikey, you don't happen to be dealing at all with a data center for pioneer do you when you move to Des Moines? Let me know.

I'll be adding manufacturing facilities for corn and soybean processing across the country. My office will be out of the HQ in Johnston. FYI I hate to work lol.

Now that I have a chance to compare pool in Des Moines to pool in Fayetteville, I don't think I will. The game has the same rules but it is played differently if that makes any sense at all. It's apples to oranges.

Big Dog Billiards really is an awesome room though. The Sunday tournament there is unbelievable, they say it's the best weekly tourney in the country and I am inclined to agree. Lots of small action happens in the room which is cool to be around. Only took me two days to catch my first air barrell which is always nice. Note to self next time someone is down over a 100 bucks it's time to pay off by the game. Getting paid 1 C-Note out of $500 isn't fun let me tell you. Oh well I like the people there, most of them are gentlemen and respectful of each other.

Got a call from Fayetteville and turns out they are working up a Ronnie Wiseman Vs. Mike Davis match for 40k in the middle...I'm flying back for that type of action.

What was the game between you and that "someone"?
