Are predator 314-2 shaft lighter than regular shaft??

Is predator 314-2 shaft lighter than regular one piece shaft?
What would be an average weight for predator shaft?

you know i was trying to figure that same thing out last week. i dont have a scale. and predator dont like to call people back it seems.

depends on the shaft but in general predators are lighter than normal shafts. The front five in. or so is hollowed out and the ferrul is smaller and lighter. On top of that the taper is longer than most cues reducing the overall mass.

i wouldnt say that is entirely true, i have 4, and i think they are all around 4 oz... one is only 28" and its still 3.9oz... but i do have one matched to my schuler thats only 3.4 or so

In my experience, the weight is more on the lighter side but it is not uncommon to find a heavy Predator shaft. I used to use low deflection shafts (ex. Predator) . I would weigh the original one piece shaft being replaced and buy a Predator shaft in the same weight to preserve the balance of the cue.

Part of the any shaft weight is the joint. A joint that allows the pin to go straight into the wood and has no collar (sneaky pete) would be lighter than a shaft that has an metal insert and guide and that also has a collar, especially a metal collar! F.Y.I.
