Are there any photos for this year's 2014 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship?`

I read on FB that J.P. Parmentier was doing another shoot at the same time as this year's Open, and I don't know if Diana Hoppe made the trek to the Open this year. Were there any photographers on site that have shared their photographs with AzBilliards?

AzBilliards Gold Members have the opportunity to see photographs of various tournaments on the AzBilliards Main Page by clicking the camera icon. Here is a link to the 2003 Mid-Atlantic Championship, if you click the camera link, Gold Members can see three sets of photographs: 93 from Diana Hoppe, 26 from Mark Whiteside, and 33 from Diana Hoppe ----> HERE

This is the first year, I haven't seen any photos on AzBilliards, other than the ones members have shared here and on Facebook. :(

Hi Jam,

I did not see J.P. this year and RickyB had family health issues so he could not make it... Diana won't do the Open ever again after Barry and her got into it several years ago so she was not in attendance... Jerry T did send Alison so she likely has some photos she may be willing to share after they finish the Open articles but I don't think she bothers with AZ after the reception our resident maroons gave Emily Duddy.... So that would leave Tony Fox.... I know he was there likely taking photos for Billiard Digest... I do not know if he comes on AZ but he and Alison will be the only 2 options this year....

I'd love to help but when I got there they screwed my seats up (AGAIN) sooooo bad that I got my money back, got in my car & went home. Year after year the same Barry crap:mad:

Thanks for providing a on-site report of what was happening as far as photographers for this professional pool competition for a world-ranked professional title.

Wow! What a disappointment. :frown:

I can understand totally how you feel, but on a good note, at least there was a seat somewhere for you, though not the one you paid for.

I mention this only because I suffered tremendous physical pain at the Carolinas Open at Fast Eddie's in Goldsboro, NC one year because they had not enough chairs for the spectators and players.

We all walked around the perimeter of the room like refugees looking for a place to rest, hoping to find a chair to sit down.

Standing on my feet for 18 hours in a day was just too much for me. Nobody knew when they were going to shoot their match, and we had to be there at 8 a.m. each day, even though your match might not be until 6 p.m. that night.

I used to wear comfortable shoes when we'd go on the road, expensive comfortable shoes like Mephistos, and my feet were in excruciating pain and swollen. I don't know if it was the hard concrete floor or what it was, but I could not stand up for 18 hours a day the entire week of that event.

When somebody finally did get up and leave one of the rare chairs in Fast Eddies, everybody ran to the empty chair like it was Musical Chairs. I'll never, ever forget it.:D

Actually there was a photographer from Winston-Salem, NC hired that Friday to take photos. I do not know how that deal worked out and I don't think he is a AZ forum member. I will ask him about this when I see him later in the week. He does have some great shots of the last two days.

Actually I never did get a seat, by 10 PM wednesday night they still did not have a seat for me that I paid $400 for 6 months ago. They literally told me to just go & try to find somewhere to sit.

Jerry Forsyth was taking pics with a good camera/lens.

There were a couple forum members that were using decent equipment and had good spots, to take pics. Maybe they'll chime in here.

I'd be happy to email mine to you, Jenny. Just let me know.

Eric ... re: your offer to e-mail your pictures to JAM. Why not just post them here on the forum for everyone's enjoyment?

Oh, Eric, you're a dream boat. I would love to see them, when you have time. No rush.

I use this forum and its archives for my personal chronicling of various pool happenings a lot. It comes in handy for my writings, as well as Wikipedia articles. Maybe someone like me 20 years from now will be interested to see the players who competed at the 2014 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship.

I hope AzBilliards does get some photos posted in their NEWS section. I used to donate mine to AzBilliards when I was on site. I really enjoy my photos and did not mind sharing them one bit. Some folks are proprietary about it, especially if they're professional photographers, which I am not. :embarrassed2:

If you want to send me a few to post in this thread, Eric, it would be my pleasure to do so. For those of us not fortunate enough to go, we enjoy seeing the photos.

There were some good pictures on the NYC Grind Facebook page... see above link.

Those are absolutely outstanding. I love the one with Dennis Orcollo's arm around Barry with Shane, both holding their plaques after winning. Bravo to Alison Fisher and NYGrind.

She also got a good shot of Pineapple, which I'm going to link in another thread.

Now, that's what I'm talking about. :clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:

Glad to have been of assistance!

I sent a dozen or so, to Jennie. They need to be resized for the forum, which I don't have time for, at the moment. Maybe Jennie will? (sorry to put it on you).

The pics are from the finals; Dennis vs Shane.

Piece of cake for me. Thank you, Eric. As Arnie would stay, "I'll be back." Stand by. :grin-square:

Jennie,

For all those years that you took pics for us, you deserve a lil love in return. Pics sent.

Eric

I love this one. :smiling-heart: More coming.
