Area Carpet on top of Carpet, or Not?

Hi Gentlemen,
It appears I'll be purchasing a lovingly used Brunswick Gold Crown II. What is the conventional wisdon on placing a small area rug immediately beneath the pool table on top of Wall-to-Wall carpeting that's already (recently) been in stalled. The floor is concrete. THANX!
Best, -Z-

I personally do not like rug on top of another rug for several reasons.

Leveling, certainly does not lessen settlement issues. also the top rug tends to buckle and bunch up around the foot area due to all the material being compressed by the weight.

Also, think about where the top rug is going to stop. Right where your going to be making a stance for most of your shots. Most people complain about constantly tripping over the edges of the top rug while walking around playing.

Everytime a customer has had me do this, a week later he has me come back to get it out! I know it sometimes looks nice, but not worth the hassle! Hope you enjoy your new table!

Depends upon the size of the rug, as to if it gets in the way or not, but assuming that it's not going to be a 15x20 area rug, then I would have to agree with the other guys. Plus they are a pain to get perfect around the table, center in the room, center the table to the rug, and hope that nothing shifted while you were moving things around.
More thickness to settle thorough, thus creating endless possibilites with precision leveling over time, added to the tripping hazard......
Cool enough on hardwood or tile if large enough to be well out of your way, but on top of carpet? I'd have to pass if it were mine.

Gentlemen,
Thank you so much for your responses & expertise. It was my preference to NOT go with an area carpet on top of existing carpet. The only reason I even thought to ask was I saw that type of set up in the show room of retail pool table shop. Thanx again. Best & Happy New years to all. -Z-
