Arimath “Black Measel” cue ball

Some people in leagues swear chalk sticks to the black dot much less than the red dot. It does sound a little different when hitting the two side by side against object balls and I have to agree it's cleaner after each game that I played them using it. Wouldn't mind trying the predator ball in the future.
I believe that the red dot and the "Diamond" measle balls are Aramith Super Pro, and the black measle ball is Aramith Duramith. So that would make sense.
The "predator" ball is also Duramith.
Omega just got some in stock if you can stomach the $50 price tag.

Why wouldn't they include a duramith cue ball with any pro tournament set that is duramith? Thinking about it you are correct on that, didn't realize my measles is the standard pro. Just figured it was a duramith finish like all the other balls. Probably try the black dot for $40 first.

I would imagine stuff like that is part of whatever deals the tournament directors get from various vendors.
It does seem like it would be better to stick with Duramith cue balls if you're using Duramith ball sets.
I have the Aramith Black cue ball, and have an Arcos on the way I like how both of them play and prefer the black markings.
I'll keep one at home and one for the private room I use.

They changed the red measles to duramith resin a few years ago. I got one and compared it to my older one and it was night and day.

@rexus31 what do you think of the measel ball in the rhodium set you have?
Love it. It's one of the few sets I have that I don't use an Aramith or Cyclop Measle ball in place of the cue ball that came with the set. I tried to buy a couple of singles a while back but had no luck.

Yeah I looked around and couldn't find a single for it. I think I may just buy the rhodium set. I am happy to support a company that has their quality in check.

Overstatement is an act wherein the speaker exaggerates in order to make his position more remarkable.

In fact, the act actually works in the opposite manner than intended, reducing listeners confidence in the 'facts' presented.
Awwww, you're just jelouse you didn't get that 12 pack deal.

According to Aramith the Pred. Arcos balls are made from SAP as are the Centennials. The only Duramith cb is the one that comes with the Tournament set and the black measel ball. Red-circles are also SAP. This info is only a few months old and direct from Aramith.

I have also had correspondence recently with Aramith to confirm this. 👍

I bought 2. Don't feel like a sucker. I like the look of it. That used to not be a crime. I also have 2 of the blue dot measels cue balls. Shame me.
I have been thinking about that blue dot ball to put with my Centennials to replace the blue circle one. Would look great I think

My leagues play in a bowling alley which has 10 tables. You have to get there early on order to collect a rack of balls such that no ball rolls free in the rack. The cue balls are worse.

Since chipped and uneven cue balls will affect a shoot, a cue ball that reacts to my tip in the way I intend os worth a few bucks.
Careful, if balls are chipped that often means exposed nails in the pockets. And your new ball may suffer the same fate.

All I know is that something changed between the old red dot measle ball and the newer ones in recent years, as chalk marks aren’t retained on the ball nearly as bad as they used to be, and are much easier to remove now with your fingertip pads.

I guess possibly that could be related to how I cleaned those older red dot Measle balls over the years which may have possibly removed some of the luster on the finish causing the chalk marks to show up more and be harder to remove.
