Arm on table

There are two ways to achieve anchoring of your upper body with your bridge arm. One is to plant the elbow. The other is to keep the arm locked straight. Either can restrict the motion of your upper body.

The problem with planting the elbow, often, is that on a crowded pool table there will be balls in the way. On a snooker table, there is less crowding.

Arm resting on table ... am watching Filler and Feijen match and it appears both rest forearms (slightly bent) on the table when shooting? THX

I notice players doing that when they're leaning too far over the table to make a normal stance. Like Bob mentioned, more contact points for better stability if there's nothing in the way.
