Mr. Perfect wasn't so perfect in the long run. He was always quick to let anyone else know of their mistakes in the maker forums.

Hope he is in good health. Even if he isn't, it doesn't give one an excuse to take your money and cut you off. Thats stealing plain and simple.

I agree. I spent some time on the phone with him concerning the whole Eddie Wheat issue (He called me) when it was happening, and he was nice and even asked me to join the secret cuemaker society club that was forming at the time. Then a little while later he then berated another cuemaker (Dieckman) for starting a thread asking a donation of cues by cuemakers to support a new association in Asia and Arnot wasn't nice by the slightest bit, for no outward apparent reason. I called him out on being a dick to someone for no reason and since then he followed me and red rep'ed me like a stalker would do. It took about a year before I stopped getting PM's or Red reps from him. Sad to see he has sunk to the same depths as Eddie Wheat........take a deposit and don't deliver a cue....I know he still comes here, so enjoy the read Arnot..hopefully you won't make a stupid Youtube video like Eddie did........

You might consider Steve Lomax. I think his shop is about an hour out of Atlanta and he makes GREAT cues.

Gout doesn't last forever. If he had a bout with it, it was temporary and you can guarantee that he was sitting in a recliner, leg up with the phone and the remote control within reach.

A week, or two at the very most and then you're up and about. No reason to not be able to stand in front of a lathe for short periods.

And as Joey mentioned, you won't go wrong with Steve Lomax.

One man shops are fine if the buyer understands the terms and risks. Arnot turned sour.
Way back in the mid 60's I ordered a cue from Doc Fry. He said it would take x amount of time. He was a proud craftsman. He invited his customers to stop by and see their cue in progress. That was a great experience. I still have the cue. Hardly use it. It's part of my life's collections. I enjoy peeking into the case every now and then.
I met Arnot. He had nothing good to say about anyone's cues or cue makers. That is a show of character. I came close to ordering a cue from him but had doubt. I'm glad I didn't.

I hear you, some of the one man shop issues would probably go away if we ordered cues the way you did with Doc Fry back in the 60's.
These days there are cuemakers everywhere, some are obviously better businessmen than others, and the internet sales make it less personal.
The last cue I ordered was made by Randy Etheridge, a one man/part time shop in Denver, and the entire build was a blast.
He even gave me a discount on the cue, just because I gave him a stick of ferrule material he liked so much.
Would you consider a two man shop? :smile:

As far as not answering the phone due to a gout attack, I have gout, a friend has it worse, we answer our phones.
Try getting a double dose of the shingles like I had earlier this year and let me know how it feels, but I still answered my phone.
 
OP hasnt posted anything in this thread since April...I wonder what ever happened..:confused:

A 2 man shop? Would the price double:killingme::killingme: Seriously..I would use anyone with a good reputation. Custom work takes time. Understanding the time frame is the key.

I have gout/arthritis. My mouth still works.

Thanks for all your support on this issue. I just wish no one else to be exploited by Arnot. Yes , it is july 2013 and still no word or stick from Arnot. So those of you who have ordered or about to order Know the real spelling of his name Are-not going to get a stick. Thanks again for the support. it was tough enough for me to raise the $400.00 the first time so getting another custom made stick is going to be a while. I will just continue to use my Abe Rich from out of the sixties. Now he was a stick maker!

Mr. Wadsworth needs to read and comprehend what you are saying in this post.
Not everyone can afford to order custom cues all the time, and not everyone is a cue collector.
When most people order a custom cue it's kind of a big deal, and they are buying it to play with.

Arnot, unless you are hooked up to life support, please contact this gentlemen and make arrangement to pay him back.
If by some ****ing miracle the cue has been built, then make arrangements to ship it out.
It's not complicated
 
I have filed egal action against him and hope to recover triple damages, as provided for under Florida law. Let me know if you want to join this legal action. HK
 
arnot jump break cue

I returned a jump break cue that I bought from arnot a few years ago.. It needed to be repaired and he said no problem he'd fix it....yea right never got it back out $900.00

stick update

If you remember i asked for a stick from arnot. This stick was simple maple no cut for a wrap. No, finish, no, anything. Just get it to my mom. Well mom had a heart attack last month and has now had to give up her craft. Wood carving and burning.

I really hate hearing stuff like this. I count myself fortunate to have never been jerked around by those makers I have carefully vetted to work with. I have had two very pleasurable experiences with Keith and Shari Josey. Super nice folks that do their absolute best to deliver what will make the customer happy. No blowing of sunshine up the backside from the Josey shop. Customer satisfaction is tantamount...and it shows. I will forever be a fan, and count myself fortunate for the experience.

Some people are real jag sticks...... He is doing this to a lot of people I bet.....what a reputation or memory to have as a person....the shame of him stinks....
