Only thing better than watching these matches on TV is to live 90 miles away and just drive there and watch
all the matches.
This a a great venue for spectators. So sad to see the bleachers mostly empty while world class pool is being played. They don't charge a dime to get in, not even to park. Once inside you can get a bite to eat at any of several restaurants, sit at the slots or gaming tables a bit (we don't gamble), then walk into a nice size arena and sit down in a chair right next to your favorite player.
The way they set the tables up at TS is a railbird's delight. They are set end-to-end, with long tables set up in the same direction just the other side of the barrier. You are inches from the action, and if it's a real hot match and all the seats are taken, you can get an even better view of the play by standing up right behind them.
What the TV camera doesn't show is how few people may be actually watching this in person. Thorsten Hohmann has been on fire all summer, and some are claiming he is the best on the planet at this moment, yet both of his matches on the TV table last night were poorly attended railside. The second match with Oscar had me, some guy taking pictures, and Oscar's beautiful GF as the only ones seated at the table besides Toastie's good friend Hunter Lombardo. Every one else was four tables down, watching Earl go off on Mike Dechaine.
Back home today. Now for the action: Oscar vs. Hatch. Should be good, although I really wish we were there to see Karen dismantle Earl. We love him, but man he deserves to get trounced by her for the unkind remarks he's been making there with her well within earshot.
