Li He Wen (CHI) vs Au Chi Wai (HKG)

and

Chao Fong Pang (TPE) vs Ramil Gallego (PHI)

seems to me that all the favourites are getting knocked out by lesser opponents...

Reyes vs Chao was a particularly intriguing matchup, both players are well known worldwide with impressive resumes. Unfortunately the match seemed to be in Chao's control most of the time with Efren making alot of costly mistakes, I would look for Chao to go deep in this one.

Well done to the Chinese player Li He Wen!

He came 2nd in the last leg in Vietnam, losing to Efren in the final. And last week he won the National 9-Ball Championship here in China.

He's looking like he'll be the first Chinese mainland player to have an impact on the international pool world.

At this point, I think he already qualifies for the WPC in 2006.

there are some mainlander players that are as good as Li, as Colin is in China he might know "Fu Jian Bo", he is located in ShangHai, and nearly all the tournament in China, he and Li are getting the titles even.

donno why every time China always send a guy called "Xu Meng", probably because he is the head coach or something, but definitely not a strong player in a way, as he nvr got into quarters in Asian 9-ball since the first time he attended...like 4, 5 years ago.

i reckon they just need some exp in international scene, but Chinese government...they nvr consider billiard as one type of sports rather than just entertainment... and the new regulation just got annouced that all the pool halls have to be closed before 2AM, but since I am not in China now, i donno if it is really happening.

Semis: Game 1

Li He Wen (CHI) 9 vs 11 Au Chi Wai (HKG)

Alot of glaring and obvious mistakes and some marvelous shots, but in total, it was a very boring pool game. Didn't give me the energy to post the Rack for Rack updates.

Au gets the first semi-finals berth.
