What kind of manuals do table mechanics use? Do you use a book to learn assembly/disassembly and fitting cloth, or is everything you know from experience?

I am a diesel generator mechanic by trade, so I'm sure I can figure out how to do it. However, in my field we always go by the book...even if we already know how to do it.

I'm buying a Gold Crown IV next week that is disassembled. I love to learn and want to do everything myself, including putting simonis 860 on the table and rails. I want to know everything about it just because I love the game, learning, and knowledge. I tried looking for a book on Amazon and there is one for table mechanic's but that's about all I could find.

Any help is appreciated!

ask the question in Talk to a Mechanic section of the forum, you will get expert replies. Ah, and table mechanics don't use any manuals for cloth replacement since they tried once I guess

There is no book.
Mechanics learn by doing as tables typically have rather generic assembly.

Good mechanics make the time to train-up thru various means - such as interaction on this forum in the mechanics section.
Another was a training seminar conducted this summer by RKC which around 30 mechs from various areas attended.
This was a good opportunity to share methods and procedures.

Some mechanics don't learn too good and they are referred to as hacks who are more interested in getting paid then doing the job right.

You should start a thread in the Ask a Mechanic section with specific questions and you will have no problem getting answers.
Some mechs also post pics of their work so at the least you will get to see what a properly installed table looks like.
