We have this little policy where I live that Our Community Pool/Billiards Room is Open to Members ONLY! (those who live in the Community with current fee paid on their Recreation Cards). Members may bring their guests, and friend not living in the community in at a charge of $2.70/Day.

Sadly we have a problem with Members SNEAKING in Guests, & Friends without paying the $2.70/Day FEE when Our Monitor who controls access back is turned.

So I ask the question to you room owner how do you control access, and use of your facailities, and at what point would you "86" a customer for life?

Either a customer is making a positive contribution overall or a negative one. That should determine if they stay or go. Customers that spend more money usually get more leeway. If the headaches are not worth the income.....time to go.

It sounds like your "guest fee" is done on the "honor system". Either "post" a notice or send a letter (memo) to members...that "failure to pay for guests will result in revocation of guest privileges". Now if EVERYBODY is doing it....maybe you want to rethink the policy. You could start tacking on "guest fees" to their monthly dues (i.e. December guest fees dues $13.50 for 5 guest visits). You could hire a "monitor" that stays AWAKE!. The main thing is NOT to start a revolution, where you or the association become the bad guy for trying to enforce the rules. You operation sounds like a retirement community so it shouldn't be too hard to do this... If you are dealing with more militant/dangerous types let me know...that is ACTUALLY my specialty.

and Members that are "sneaking in" guests...make no mistake. That is just theft, stealing plain and simple. Call them out on it. Stealing pool time money is no different than stealing money out of the drawer. Its still means less income for you.

first offence, ban one month, second offence, 6 months, 3rd...one year, 4th....banned for life......we are old enough to remember when we are wrong.........

The minute it occurs to me that I should. Make them sit out for a year and try again. They will know your serious and it sets an example. Worked the best for me. People who see it realize they need to act right in your place. I'd rather go broke than babysit. :)

It kinda sounds like you are talking about an Elks Lodge. But, unless access is controlled at the entrance I don't think you will ever be able to stop some Cheap SOB from trying to cheat the system.

In my pool room, the tables are rented by the hour and the rates are based upon either one or two or more players. Here I get $3 per hour for a single player, and $5 for two or more until 6 pm when the rates change. Then it is a Flat $6 per hour per table no matter how many people are playing upon the table.

Like I said above if can't control access you will never control whether people are paying or not.

No I am talking about where I live, and play. The CHEAP SOB's are unbelieveable. IMHO they are STEALING FROM ALL Members of the Community. The $2.70/DAY RATE is a STEAL.

Stealing Time tresspassing

Stealing Time & tresspassing

Warning # 1 - Charge them 1 weeks fee - loss of membership for 1 month.

Warning # 2 - Charge them 1 Month's fee - Loss of membership for 6 months

3 rd & last Warning - Charge them 6 month's fee - Loss of membership for 1 year.

If they are stupid enough to be a member again & does this one last time,
Charge the non paying person for tresspassing & issue a lifetime ban.
Charge the member one last time for 1 years fee. I Doubt that you will recieve the money.
This will only enforce his ban if he don't pay the fee's. Good Luck!

If only it were that simple. I know of a proprietor who did NOT ban players from his establishment who got in fairly regular fist fights, because they were big spenders. But he had no hesitation in banning another player because that guy complained about the condition of the tables!!

wristbands

The monitoring is easy if each guest wore a non removable wrist band. That's how ID checks are verified at our place. No wristband on a guest? no pay... no play Mitch
