Athena?

Froggy1369

AKA Laura!
Hi! I have shot off and on since I was as about 6! I am 33 now, and have never owned my own cue. I have started playing in an APA league and decided I might want to buy my own stick. I don't want to spend a lot because it really is more of a night out of the house than anything else. I have been shooting with both the bar cues and my boyfriends Lucasi LCB6 with a Kumui soft tip.

I am looking at getting myself an Athena Cue with the same tip he has on his. Why the Athena? Well to be honest they have some really cool sticks! Yes I am a girl like that. Plus for the price... 133 with the tip, joint protectors, and shipping it's a deal.

So my question is can anyone give me a good hard reason not to purchase one of these? Do you know anyone who plays with one? Pros/cons? Like I said, I am not ever going to become a tournament player or anything more than a local bar APA league player. I would rather invest more money in my golf clubs!

Thanks in advance for any advice you guys have! :p:)

I'll be honest with you. You can't really expect a high end cue for anything below +/- 250$.
If you aren't willing to spend that much, it's really not that different.
There are a few which may be better for that price.
http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/cuetec/Cuetec-13693.html - This is 176$, with a Cuetec R360 shaft, which uses good technology.
http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/viking/viking_g01-pink.htm - Cheapest Viking cue. Only bad thing is it doesn't have the Vikore shaft, but the V-Pro one. Still should be nice.
http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/viking/viking_g03-pink_pool_cue.htm -Same as above.

Other than that a lot of the entry level cues play at a similar level. So it's all about your choice there. If you like the Athena designs, go with Athena.

I bought one for my wife and put a Kamui brown med tip on it.

She loves it. They are shorter and weight forward. They come with a extension if you need it to be longer for the long reach shots.

If you check around you can get a really good deal on them around $96.00 on sale.

It is a less expesive Chinese cue cant go wrong with it but you might get a better cue for the money if you go with a Players cue.

Best advice is to pick one up and shoot with it if you like it buy it if not keep trying cues until one fits you.

Have fun!

Go to eBay and you can get a good cue and case set on there some come with cases.. good luck .

My girlfriend has the ATH32 Athena cue. She loves it. She's a bit short, so the extension comes in really handy for her.
