Atlanta pool seen

Well, I've spent the last 2 weeks in Atlanta and will be back next week. All I can say is: pretty damn good pool town.

Sandy Springs Billiards: Nice pool hall. This looks like some one put in an up scale pool hall with lots of dark wood paneling and trim work. Mostly 8 foot tables but a couple of 9 foots. Went there on a Tuesday night so APA league was going on. Played one of the APA team players 1 game of 8 ball. talked with the team a little. Then played a local a few games of 9 ball. Everyone was real nice and friendly. Good fried egg sandwich. Doesn't really seem like a players room and kinda expensive $10/hour. I can play for $2/hour in OKC at AAA billiards. But, they do have a lunch hour special.

Mareitta Billiards (Johnny Archers room): Big pool room. Don't know exactly how many table but enough you don't have to wait for a table to open up. Lots of space between table (I really like that). The Olhausen tables played tough. Again, everyone was really nice and friendly. Went there 3 different times. Played in 2 tourny and played a local guy (Andy I think). Shawn Putnam was there and of course Johnny. Didn't see any action but definitely some good players here. Don't know about the food too busy playing.

Mr Cue II: Another nice pool room. Good equipment (Gold Crowns I believe). I think they have a tourny every night. Seem like a lot of league players but definitely some action players as well. Played a guy named Preacher Man (1 set of 9 ball and 3 sets of one pocket). I didn't fair too well but had a great time. I really want to go back and spend some time at this room. Went on a Sunday and $5 will let you play until 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

Classic Billiard - Conyers: Was there Wed night. No one was there. Really dead. But all Diamond table and (at least what the house man said) when the action is going the place is packed. House man asked for my phone number so he could let me know when the action started. Not too many house man like this anymore. He definitely knows the business and how to take care of his customers. He seems like the kinda house man you could walk up to and say "I'm looking for action" and he would find it for you.

All in all, Atlanta is a great pool town with top level pool halls. Nice people, good equipment, and plenty of action or tournys.

You missed out on a great meal if you didn't get something to eat when you were at MBC.

Welcome to my home.

I am glad to see that you enjoyed yourself in Atlanta. I have played at all but one of these pool rooms (Sandy Springs) and they are all very nice places with really nice people. Preacher man is a real good friend of mines and is always there for a friendly game to who ever walks in the door at Mr. Cues 2. Yall come back now ya here.
