Atlas supply question

I have a lathe on order and I thought I'd start gathering up some supplies and tools I'll need while I'm waiting. I figured I'd do it now while I'm in the midst of reorganizing my shop anyway and building some more storage.

Atlas seems to be out of practically everything I want to buy, and most of my second choices as well. 3/8-10 taps and pins, Radial pins...some other things too I'm not remembering off the top of my head, but nothing exotic. Just really basic stuff.

I guess I'm just wondering if that's more or less normal and things get back in stock quickly, or if I should be looking around somewhere else because I'm going to be waiting a while.

Thanks!

Prather, Schmelke and Unique has alot of stuff, maybe you can get some of the things you need to get going from them?

Thanks, Kim. I really didn't phrase the question well. What I was really wondering is if Atlas tends to be hit and miss and if I need to buy a lot of what I want all at once, or if they tend to restock pretty quickly. For example, for my business there are certain items that I buy in large quantities because they have 3 month lead times, and things like that. I was just wondering how they generally work.

I really appreciate the help and advice.

I buy from their European counterpart, Elforyn.de
Usually the have most things in stock, but some items seems to be out of stock for a long time.

Unfortunately it's hard to get it all in one place. Between atlas and cue components you should be able to get most of your list. If there's something you can't find, just post here. These guys will know where to find it.

Thanks again, guys. I just went ahead, changed my plans slightly, and ordered enough stuff to make lots of mistakes. :)

Atlas tends to be out of stock on items for awhile, If they have it and you want it, order 2-3 times what you need IMO, because when you go to get more....it's out....
As far as Cue Components.....good luck with dealing with joe....:rotflmao::banghead:

atlas says pins are out for electro plating and should be available in 1-2 weeks.

I would try Prather then John, as I have always had very good service from them. If I remember, I did get most of my taps and such from them at some point.

Unique Products also have a lot of good stuff too.

I don't know about tools, but Cue Components has the rest of the stuff that you will use.

I haven't purchased much in the way of supplies lately but I kinda noticed that every time that I check, many things are out of stock at Atlas.

cuecomponents and joe are great to deal with as long as you have money and dont waste his time that's what i found out. to each their own. atlas has their own issues and honestly every supplier is quirky if you ask me.

Well, one thing I'll say about Atlas is they certainly do ship fast! I'm used to more industrial-like suppliers shipping...oh, whenever they get around to it. Got a surprise package today.
