Attaching a image with no text link?

How do you attach an image and have it show up in the message without just being a text link. I've seen people do this from time to time. I know I can host an image on my own Web server and then just point to that image and have it show up in the message but If I try to attach an image it just shows up as a text link to the image in a message.
Thanks

Hit the envelope icon above this /\

Image tags will have the link in between them and the image will display.
If you upload your pics at photobucket.com, they even give the Image link.
All you do is copy that link and paste it with your message and it'd have the image inside like this.

The picture is showing when I attached but I still don't really get it. In the past when I attached it would just show a link and not the actual image and you would have to click on the link. This time it showed the actual picture and I did nothing different.
And I could not find any envelope icon above the ^

When you only have one attachment, it will show like the above.
If you have more than one, it will give you the links that pop up in a new window.
