I saw Worst play at a tournament at the Detroit State Fairgrounds circa 1965. The event's games were 14.1, 9-ball, 3-cushion, and snooker. I believe Worst won 3 of the 4 events. Luther Lassiter and Minnesota Fats performed daily exhibitions but didn't play the tournament. Cornbread beat Freddy Salem in a snooker match precipitating a rolling-on-the-floor fight between one of Freddy's pals - JoJo Hazemy and someone I didn't know, but neither Freddy nor Red won any of the events. There was an action room upstairs where I saw Cornbread playing one-pocket against someone I also didn't know whose backer pulled the largest stack of hundred-dollar bills out of his pocket that I had ever seen at that point. I was 18. The business about Worst's stance can't be anything but exaggeration as all great players have to have an effective stance with the aesthetics of it always being a matter of taste. My 2 cents anyway.
