I went to a auction of a company that closed down.
Tallk about bargins.
A 80 inch enco lathe, with barfeed, taper turning, copy profile attachment, collett chuck and a set of colletts, less than 3k.
It has never been wired up.
Some 2nd op lathes, also never wired or used went for $325 each.
A drill mill with a large table went for 375.
I have never been to an auction where there was no reserve on anything.
But digital calipers went for more than new.

I have been to a lot of auctions and seen the same thing. Some things bringing more than new price and others selling dirt cheap. Did you get any of the lathes? Several years ago I decided to auction off a metal lathe and some wood lathes table saws and a lot of other items I really did not need. And it was a disaster for me. Several bidders got together and made agreements not to bid against each other on the machines. The machines brought very little. For example my 36" Atlas Metal lathe with full length taper attachments brought less than $300. And a heavy duty Delta wood lathe with metal cutting attachment and large three jaw chuck brought $90.
The only thing that kinda saved the day was a travel trailer brought twice what we expected. Two different people both wanted it really bad.

DANG!
Any Hardinges or Feelers second op lathes?

Not sure of the brand, but they were Taiwan copies of the Hardinge 2nd op machines.
I did not bid on the lathes or mill.
I wanted some angle blocks and got an inside mic to use as an adjustable stop for quils and my lever tailstock.Abit of a waist but they are grad in thou's and are small.
So it seems that if you want a bargain in machinery and are patient , at the moment it looks like Auctions might be the way to go. If you paid cash , not announced, but they gave you a %10 discount on sales of $150 or more.
The guy that bought the lathe and mill, gave a deposit to hold the items while he went to the bank to get cash.
