I will be in Austin for a couple of days this week, Where are the good action pool rooms at?

Seems like this question comes up every two months or so. You might want to do a forum search for previous responses.

I liked Erics' Billiards.

Visit Dillingers down the road in San Marcos. Look up Redbird the owner and tell him you're looking for a game. He'll find you one.

Thanks Jay,
I am just going as a professional sweater lol. But you never know???????

Eric's Billiards used to be a huge action pool hall. Its not quite what it used to be, but I'm sure you could probably find a game. Texas Hold'em is big right now, so they play a lot of poker at Eric's nowadays.

Eric's is old school pool hall. They have about 12 nine foot tables, 1 snooker table, 1 3C table, 2 barbox tables, and about 4 eight foot tables. The 9 foots are all Gold Crowns with simonis cloth and semi tight pockets.
3 weekly tournaments - Monday and Thursday nights at 7:30pm. $7 entry, race to 4 and 3. Saturday afternoon tournament at 2:00pm. $10 entry, race to 5 and 4.

There's also places like Click's Billiards, Slick Willie's and Fast Eddie's. All are chain-type pool halls. No real serious pool playing, in my opinion.

Hope that helps some.

The only place I've been in in Austin is Buffalo Billiards. Its a bar that's built around a pool theme, and its been in some movies, but the tables were in bad shape, the house sticks were worse. Maybe upstairs would be better but that was given over to a private company party.... Given what you are looking for, I'd try something else.

No one goes there to seriously play......
