NO POOL ROOMS IN OR NEAR AVONDALE AZ.

MOST POOL IN Arizona is played in BARS, Are you moving to Avondale?

NO, I have a friend in Avondale and we go over to Skip & Jans which is quite a distance for him.

your closest pool hall is boomerang @ 67th and thomas and is 24 hrs. they have a 9 footer and a bunch of bar tables. not really somewhere you want to take your wife though ;)

maybe so, but a totally different atmosphere. It's still a "bar".
Looking for a hourly table at the very least.

Have you tried Sweet Tooth Billiards or Bullshooters in Phoenix? They're not exactly close to Avondale, but they are probably half the distance of going to Skip and Jan's.

You could carpool with Rodney Morris if you want. He lives out by you and has made Bullshooters his home room. He didn't pick Sweet Tooth, because as he's made very clear, he doesn't particularly like diamond tables.

Both of these rooms have hourly rates for big tables, Sweet Tooth has rates for barboxes whereas Bullshooters is $.50/game.

Here is a Room Map that I created sometime ago (might need to update): http://www.azpoolscene.com/RoomMap.aspx

The only place that has more then two tables is the bowling alley on central. They have seven valley bar boxes. that have not had new felt in three years. they have tap leagues on thurs and on monday nights its free pool all night.

Yeah its funny, between Avondale, Goodyear. Buckeye, Surprise, Litchfield park. over 500,000 people no pool hall or bar worth anything for pool players. you would think someone would say lets give this a try.

i agree with big cat, drive to sweattooth. i played at skip and jans a week ago. who ever there table mechanic is needs to be fired. at least on there bar boxes.

I agree on the barboxes at Skip & Jans. I should have taken a photo. They have valley barboxes that someone decided to cut/round the side pocket corners to make them accept more balls like the diamond barboxes. But most of them are all wavy or a straight cut. I played there the other week, for the 1st and last time, and managed to get ball in hand with 1 ball on the table and I couldn't make it anywhere. It was frozen inside a dent on the side rail.

You have to give me the address to this place. I'm now a Sun City resident, so it's got to be pretty close to my house.

Shirt Pocket Bob might get you into Sun City. Actually Sun City has (2) Rooms 99 & Bell on 99th. AVE, and Thunderbird & Del Webb across from Boswell FAUX Hospital. Both in the Bowling Complexes.

Both of their rooms have 5' x 10's for Snooker, and 3C.

Who is Shirt Pocket Bob and how do I get in contact with him? Maybe I know him by a different name. Even if I can't qualify to get in to play maybe I can still check it out.

Shirt Pocket Bob is the Old Guy who sold the Pro Shop to Bryan Mordt at Pappy's before the other Gray Hair Guy had it before it closed.

He does a Trick where he Catches a Pool Ball he Shoots in his Shirt Pocket.

BTW you can go look, without a problem in SC, SC Grand, or SCW, but to Play you need to be Sponsored in as a GUEST.

There are all kinds of Private Pool Room in Jurassic Park were the Old Folk live, Paradise RV Park on Union Hills just West of Sun City has a GREAT FACILITY!!!!!!

Well, I got to check out one of the pool rooms in Sun City and I have to admit it was pretty amazing! The one on 99th Ave & Bell. They had 3 - 3 Cushion tables in perfect shape along with 3 Snooker Tables (5x10's) plus about 15-20 GC's in very very good shape. There were balls on every single table and only 1 guy (Larry) playing when I stopped in.

They have a pretty good deal to use the center. $210/year and they get much more than all the pool time they want. (Bowling, Shuffle Board, Gym, Library, Art Studio, etc.)

I'll go and check out the other one in the following days and they mentioned that they are almost done with a 3rd one that is supposed to be the best of the 3.

Thanks for the info!

I understand what ya mean. It takes a week or two ta get used to those barboxes. I was having pocketing issues until I figured out I needed to lighten up my stroke by about 20%. Now I shoot great on those darn things!
