Here are a few shots of my new Olney cue.
First let me say 2 things:
1.) The Pictures (and I thought I was pretty good!) do NOT do this cue justice, and
2.) Jeff is a great guy to deal with as well as being an AMAZING cue maker!
Oh, and did I mention this is the only Olney cue I've seen with TWO shafts!!!
This cue is just Drop-Dead GORGEOUS in real life. It's hard to bring out the grain in the Pau Ferro, and believe me, I tried! The birds eye is just phenomenal, too. The finish is as smooth as glass, and I could find no imperfections in the cue. ZERO... ZIP... NADDA!!!
The cue is also made from what Jeff calls his "Dream Wood", Pau Ferro. Honestly I never really thought much of this stuff before, but once you see a nice piece (and this is beyond nice!), I can see what all the fuss is about. According to Jeff, Pau Ferro is his favorite wood because of the way it plays AND looks. I know a few other cue makers who really like the stuff, and now I'm hooked on it as well!
I'm glad to see that Jeff is getting the recognition he deserves for the outstanding cues he puts out. While Jeff's wait list is around 4 years now, it would be a good idea to get on it and quick, as his quality and professionalism are second to none.
Thanks again Jeff, for making me a work of art that I can play pool with.
The specks:
Length: 58
Butt Weight: 15.43 oz.
Shaft #1: 3.97 (13.06 Millimeter)
Shaft #2: 3.985 (12.99 Millimeter)
Tips: Kamui Med Soft
Design: 6 point Birds Eye into Pau Ferro, with fancy stitch rings at the joint, butt and shafts. Wrap is white with double brown speck irish linen and feels AWESOME!
And here are a few of the cue in the pre-finish stage:
