Awkward Situation

As for matching up with someone, every place I've gone has the 3 foul rule in effect. Of course, that rule is negotiable in a money game, but removing the 3 foul rule would usually be negotiated before the match begins.

That's what I'm confused about. This guy has a 9 ball in his logo and I'm guessing he was gambling at 9 ball. If it was 8 ball I could understand the confusion because the rules for 8 ball vary, but unless otherwise specified the three foul rule is standard in 9 ball. Texas Express in nearly universal.

I would quit the game if I had the guy on two fouls and he started whining about it. It's not worth the aggravation.

3F rule assumed in play here too , usually verifed by "That's 2" at the appropriate time in the game. :D

Only exception for 'us' when playing admitted 'practice games' and firing at everything.

I can understand feeling burned if you thought other wise tho but you saw , it wasn't really a factor in the game. Consider it a test of your mental game , you pasted quite well it seems. :)

IMO the three foul rule is universal rule for all games unless specific game rule(s) contridict it. therefore i support it in every game i play. however i have found out quickly many (actually most) players don't know about this rule and think it is pure BS. on the same note i have been able to enlighten several players on this rule. i have been told and it is my belief that it is harder to win on 3 foul than it is to break-and-run when playing against a good/great player. when playing this rule you have to be very delicate in how and to whom you teach the 3 foul rule too, b/c not many players will accept it as legitimate

im in an area where the 3 foul rule generally isnt in effect. I always ask when im playing someone new. In your case since yall play alot together its curious this has never come up before. I probably would have done like you did and played along but given him crap about it the rest of the night lol
