Just wondering why az doesn't have a section specific for people with questions regarding products and pool questions. People post questions everyday regarding best tips, cues for under x$, practice drills etc... Would this be a good section to have poll results voted by azers each year? We could see the best tip of 08, or the best practice drill etc.

I too often read useless replies to questions I.e. Whats a good practice drill... reply "play lots". I don't think this is very helpful to a person asking for help from knowledgeable people. Often a post will be hijacked and put on a compelet tangant with no help provided. I think a AZ Approved section would be very helpful to all and reduce the repeat of the same daily questions resulting in some off beat answers.

I think that you have some very good points. However, the questions you are speaking of are brought-up over and over and over again!!!!!!! I do however, agree with you that people should get the answer they are seeking, or the help they need to find it. The real problem, I suspect is the fact that many questions can be answered by using the AZ Archive feature, but either people do not understand how to navigate an Internet site correctly, or maybe they do not know it exists. Maybe many of these issues could be cleared up if during the site sign-up people were made aware and how to use this feature. I think this should be the first step, but who knows, maybe you have something there.

Have a good night!!!!

The archive feature is very helpful, but the only drawback is the questioner can't actively participate in the discussion. Plus, you might only find part of the answer in a thread that doesn't deal with the specifics of your question, but might be somehow indirectly related.

But I agree with you. Another aiming or OB-1 vs. Pred thread would be overkill.

I think Jason's idea to condense popular opinion on the more general questions would be great.

I just took a Basic topic and went to the search feature, on the tool bar. I asked a typical Question IE, Practice Drills, I checked the main forum and here is what came-up:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/search.php?searchid=1391489

Now if there is not enough information, in all these posts, I do not understand it. I do agree though that this will not allow participation, but it will stop the exact same questions being asked over and over!!!!!

Just my opinion, have a nice night!!!!!

I post on www.explorerforum.com and like their rules. If there is a specific question/procedure that is asked over-and-over, it's put in a sticky and posters refer to that particular sticky.

There is also an Elite section that people have to pay to be a member and post in that section. Everyone can read the Elite section; just can't post unless you are a paid member. JAM suggested something similar for AZ but was shot at dawn for bringing it up.

Moderators there don't tolerate off topic tirades either. Ask or answer anything related to the thread or you will be warned, then deleted. I have never read anything even close to a flame war there. Trolls are nonexistant, and the membership is active and helpful.

If the Ford Explorer is your vehicle and you need help or advice, check the place out.

I like the idea, especially if the reason for that is keeping the thread in right direction and no hi-jacking and so on. Just a well-backed answer straight to the topic. I think one can be created here at AZ but not paid section, instead we should select users who are knowledgeable and polite and can give a good answer. I think the majority can easily name several members who could post in so-called Elite section.

The way the sticky should look like, IMHO - post a few open poll topics - whats your favorite joint type, what's your favorite tip, custom cue maker, mass cue maker, reg. shaft, laminated shaft, tip.. once all vote, stickie those. Then a new player can look as see that 80% prefer Predator on a Radial. Maybe post a few pros and cons.

I'd say pick at most 3-5 for each poll to avoid too much confusion and 14 picks with one or two votes. Or do some rounds of picks with a ton of options, then the top 3-5 from that gets another poll, and the top of that list is "THE" item to have. I personally would like to know what most people here would pick as the best of something without reading and filtering posts for a week.
