Is there going to be an AZ/One Pocket room this year? If so, I am definitely in. Just let me know when and where to send the money.

I hope so!

I hope someone can put this together again. It's always good to see our fellow forum members. Had a good time there last year with "T", and some others. Hope to see you there.

Not this year

I payed to be involved in the az room the past 3 years.
Every time i tried to use it there were a bunch of rude people "playing long sets".
There was no way to know if these people were az members or not, because there were never any name tags made for members to wear .
I tried several times each year to introduce myself to guys in the room.
No one ever seemed interested in getting to know anyone.
Several times when i asked guys playing on tables if they paid to use the room their reply was "no", but a member told them they could use the room.

Unless the room has some sort of organization to it i will not be paying again.

I have done this twice. I have met a few of the rude people, but I have never had a big problem getting on a table. I am usually in the room LATE, so it is a non-issue. I will be more than happy to donate to get the access to the room. If there are people in there that are not members here, then they are not supposed to be playing at all from what I understand. There are a couple of guys that usually head this up and all you have to do is find one of them, or just press the issue. with the players and they will probably leave.

When the AZ/One Pocket room was started every paid member was issued a badge with their username on it, seems like their were not as many problems then, most prior members still have badges sitting at home collecting dust, why not re-use the old badge and attach a sticker to it with the date, issue new stickers to members who do not have a badge, place a sign on the wall stating everyone without a sticker is not allowed to use the pool tables.

All we need is someone to take charge of the room.

JOHN,

for at least the past three years there has been very little in the way of organization in the az room & no badges passed out.
I am not going to get into a hassle with some a$$hole that wants to start trouble, i go to the derby to play a little pool & watch a lot of great pool.
Three of the guys that i room with during the derby have attended every year.
I have been attending since 2007 & purchase tv-vip seats to be as close to the best games during the week as i can.
I am not going to waste my time arguing with anyone to try to get time on a table that i have already helped pay for.

If there is an az room this year i hope it is set up so the members that actually contributed to paying for it are the ones that get to use it without interference.
Unfortunately, that has not been my experience in the past.

Enjoy the day & enjoy the derby,

Bank Shot

Bank Shot Billiards is right across the river from the Derby. They have 4.5 x 9 Diamonds and Gold Crowns. Nice open floor.

I know this would be unpopular with some, but maybe just leaving the tables on time would be the easiest thing to do. Those free tables just attract too many flies. Just use the $25 in tokens?

I have met many nice people in the AZ room. If you go during the day and early evening, it seems that there are several AZ members in the room. But after midnight, gamblers come looking for a open table because all the other tables are in action. I have never got into an argument, but I can see how it could happen. I have told gamblers that this was a private room and most of them just look at me funny but walk away. It happen last year. If there are no Azers in the room, then I would give up my table to watch a nice money match and had a great seat to watch Saez and Oculla last year. It is what it is, as they say. I hope they will have another, I do get my moneys worth with free table time. Tom

I did the AZ room my second year attending DCC when it was at the Ex. West...I thought it would be really cool to meet some folks as well! Evidently, I must have been the only person with that train of thought...

To make a long story short, it was quite 'stuffy' in there...I met very few people who actually gave '2 shits' about meeting anyone from AZ Billiards!

And I still got my badge!

I have absolutely had a ball in the AZ room every year I went. I really hope it is in the works again this year.

I am not sure why I am getting such a negative vibe in this thread concerning the AZ room. To me, it is one of the main advantages of DCC.

It's not like it is mostly hacks looking to gamble on the AZ tables late at night. In my mind, anywhere there is a good money match, I want to be there to watch, as long as the players are capable.

I am not sure, but wasn't Darren Appleton and his buddy playing with us in the AZ room a few years back before Darren went on a tear and started winning everything?

Wasn't Sylver Ochoa playing One Pocket with AZ members for free in the AZ room the year he placed high in the banks? And we got to see his entusiasm for his first high placement in a legitimate professional event..

Jesus... What do you guys want?

Exactly Russ....or how about Brumback showing Joey A some of his banking wizardry in the AZ room. Or Lil Joe helping AZers out. Or even some of the matches some are complaining about...seeing Dennis destroy Robb Saez with what was thought to be a crazy spot....turns out Dennis didn't sweat that spot one bit (that was a blast to watch).
There was one time walked into the room and two guys were playing a hundred dollar set. I asked their names, asked if they paid to be in the AZ room....they said no. I told them to finish their set and then find another table, cuz I did pay. No biggee.

Last year, Mike Duchain came in and played and talked with us for a long time, wasn't gambling just playing the AZers and enjoying the room. You really can not beat it for 25 bucks.

2 nine foot diamonds...Mike's head...I'm guessing the number of AZers in there was
low (2 or 3 tops, could fit in there as well). Lol, just kidding, but I agree, the room will be missed.

Is it a done deal on there not being an AZ room?
