Its been 2 years since I went to the Derby so I don't know how its situated now but the last time I went they had bar boxes up stairs. They had mini tournaments and things but alot of the time it was open tables. I heard last year or the year before there was hardly any open tables and they had no bar boxes up stairs. I wonder if it would be possible for someone to coordinate a tourny for AZ players only? You would have to sign up with your user name. It would give us a chance to see us all play. I don't know just a thought. Like a $20 or $30 tourny or something with calcutta.

They put 9 ft tables upstairs so that they could have more tournament tables. They were still having mini tournaments pretty much every night that I remember. Last yr there was a ton of barboxes across the street. Also, there were plenty of available tables after hours last yr. even when the mini tourney's were going on.

As for the AZ room... we had two 4 man tourney's... everyone that was present and wanted to play put their name tag in a box and we drew 4 names. We had a small single elimination tournament and paid all 4 spots. It was one of Williebetmore's ideas... we raised a little more money than needed for the room last yr so we gave it back to the members by having these two tournaments and also ordering pizza one or two nights.

We might be able to come up with something... maybe a few more players (we only have one table. Might have two this yr but that's unknown at this time). I don't really think a calcutta would be warranted. I think it would be a little much for the few players that we would have. Anyone that wants to bet with others on the side is more than welcome to do so.

I also don't think that a calcutta should be held in the room. Yes, there's tons of gambling at the DCC but I'm still not sure we should do it. Last yr I saw security escorting a guy back down stairs from up where the rooms were... he was caught playing cards in one of the rooms or something like that. LOL, he brought the security officer over to the action room and said ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ARE GAMBLING. The security guy shook his head and walked off. You just never know and I don't think think it's something that we should fool with. This is simply my opinion. ;)

Oh so you guys have already done this kind of. I figured there would be more than 4 AZ members there. I guess it wouldn't really be worth it. But if you guys do something I wouldn't mind joining you. I like pizza.:D

Actually we had 8 players in the Thursday night "Q-Skills Challenge" Tournament. I would hope that we could have 2 more such tournaments this year.

You will find that everything at DCC MUST be fluid; the hours are crazy, the schedules are never predictable. It's part of the beauty of the event. With our celebrity event, George Breedlove backed out a half hour before the event (our understanding with the celebrities is that the event will take place ONLY if it is convenient for them - their schedules also are totally unpredictable); and we got Efren to fill in for him. You just never know what will happen.

I expect that all of the AZB Room events this coming year will be subject to last minute changes/adaptations as well. All participants should expect this.
