I spend surfing az when watching my two grandsons 8 & 10 lots of fun.does it matter tf you dont log in or should you log in all the time when on az.i am on & off all the time.love the forum.just wondering the correct thing to do?

Best thing to do ...

If you are just viewing and not commenting, you do not have to log in, but I think the best thing to do is to set it up to automatically log in everytime you come to the site. That way you are setup in case you want to comment on a thread or two.

Dave,

I second Snapshot9's comment...

Welcome to AZ. Yeah, I spend alot of time on here too. Tons of information from a ton of informative people.

By the way...I miss Montana...my mom's relatives were all from Montana (Helena) and spent many summers up there...I was born in MT...and went back there for a few years of college in Billings...I miss the view from the dorm room...woah - that was several decades ago though...

Also, if yo log in, you can easily tell which posts are new since your last visit.

By being logged in, you always have FAST access to the threads that you are subscribed to (that you post in), so you can see who and what has been posted to the threads you are interested in.

How do you set up the auto log-in? I click the "remember me" box but all this does is remember my password. I still have to log-in the start of my username (then the cookies find it and I can click it on).

The only way I've been able to automatically be logged in when I come on is to hit "remember me" and not log out when I leave. I've checked this as a visitor but the site shows me as "online" even though I'm not. So in essence I'm never logged out.

Is it considered bad manners to not log off when leaving?

Jason...Yep! The Rimrocks on one side, and the Beartooths in the distance on the other! 'Course, ya got go down to Red Lodge, or over to Bozeman to get into the REAL mountains! LOL

Mitchell...I have never "logged out" when I leave. Usually I am still logged in, when I come back...but occasionally I still have to 'log in' with username and P/W, even on my own computer. No, imo, it not 'bad manners' not to log out. :D

(Sorry for "hijacking")

Somewhere I have a picture of me rappelling down the Rimrocks with EMC (what was Eastern Montana College...since changed to a state university I think) in the background. I was just going over the edge of the cliff when the picture was taken...I was tan...I had a six-pack for a gut...now I'm just "over the edge with a gut"!!!

I should find that picture...it's only about 22 years old...

Except if I think you're online and I send you a PM but you don't get back to me for 3 days, LOL. Then you respond saying you've been offline and I think you're lying to me. :D

LOL! Sorry about that (really? 3 days?). Sometimes the computer is on, and logged into AzB even though I'm somewhere else at the moment. Some computer savvy friend of mine once told me it's better to leave your computer on all the time, than to turn it off and on several times a day. Don't know if that's true or not! :D

Hah, that was too easy!! Naw, I wasn't referring to any specific incident. The thought just occurred to me is all. Like if someone responds to a post I've made asking for a reply and I'm offline but they think I'm on. They're probably thinking "This guy is ducking me", lol.

I do think it happened once where a friend PM'd me some info about something thinking I was online, but I wasn't. By the time I got the info it was yesterday's news. Had he known I was offline he would have texted or emailed me.

That's why I've started logging off lately. That, plus I don't want to give everyone the impression that I have no life outside of AZ. I don't, but I don't want to give everyone that impression. ;)
