AZB any opinions on Josey Cues???

I shoot with a Josey sneaky pete, and I love my Josey cue. It's a beautiful cue, it shoots great, and Keith and Sherri Josey are great people. Keith Josey makes outstanding cues. Needless to say, I highly recommend his cues.

In six months...

Six moth wait but worth it. I cant wait to get my cue. Thanks for the great feedback AZB Community!!!

I second all these emotions!! I've had two Josey's. Great feel and hit. Customer service is top notch.

You're gonna love it! Good choice. Others may cost more, but I don't think they play better... Of couse, all is just subjective opinion.
You will note that nobody has posted a negative comment about a Josey...that speaks volumes.

One additional thought...if you can swing it, you might consider adding another shaft to your order...the 2nd shaft to be "timeless timber."
I've never played with one but have heard good reviews about this great lakes submerged & salvaged wood used in shafts.

Ordered My Josey Today!

All,

I too was wondering about Josey cues. I recently narrowed my choices down to three different Sneaky Pete cues: OB with OB 1 or Classic, Mezz with WD700 and Josey with the Standard Shaft and a second OB Shaft.

After reading this thread and speaking with Sherri today; I chose to go with the Josey. Everyone that said Josey Cues offers excellent customer service was 100% correct. Sherri was very knowledgeable, patient, answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns.

I don't mind the 6-8 month waiting period and am glad I read this thread. I hope I like my cue as much as those of you current Josey owners do (if not more, :)). I'm currently playing with a Predator P2 that I've had since the P2 came out years ago and just wanted something different but didn't want to pay a lot of money for a high end custom.

Lastly, Josey Cue owners; two questions for you (feel free to send PM's if you don't want to respond here).

1.) Will you tell me how the butt handle of the Josey is? The P2 is slightly thinner where you hold/grip the cue and I like this feel. I'm curious how the diameter of the Josey's are. From my experience, the Sneaky Pete's I've tried are a little larger or thicker in diameter.

2.) How's the balance on your Josey's? Is it neutral/central, forward or rear? I asked Sherri if she could give the number of inches of the balance point from the butt cap and she said she didn't have this information. However, she did say that Josey cues are known for being slightly forward balance. I forgot to ask if this is just for the Sneaky Pete's, customs or both.

Hmmmm...the butt of my Josey is thin, but not overly so. I would say on par with most custom cues these days, which tend to be thinner than those cues of the 70's, 80's, or even 90's. Ya needed more meat in those days to move the rock...lol.

Mine is definitely forward balanced. The reason that it's tough to give the balance point exactly is that Keith does not typically use a weight bolt in his petes, rather working with the weight of the wood being used in that particular cue to naturally weight to the customer's preference, but still preserving a slightly forward balance point. Kinda depends on the wood being used.

Their customer service is simply outstanding, and they will work with you to make sure you are happy.....seriously. They are awesome awesome folks to work with!!

Just wondering what wood combination did you get for your cue. Also, you mentioned forward balanced, does that help your stroke?

I requested Curly Maple w/Cocobolo. I didn't request a certain balance point or preference because I didn't want to interfere with the "natural" Josey hit that many compliment.

The wood choices, tip diameter (12.75), tip (Ultraskin Medium), weight (18.5-18.75oz) and butt diameter (not too thick and hopefully comparable to the P2 I'm used to) were more important to me.

I never owned a custom queue before so this is a new experience for me.
