Please do not donate any money made on these to us at AZBilliards. If you wish to donate please do so to a charity and our favorite is St. Judes if that pleases you. But there is also nothing wrong from plowing the money back into the business and growing with other items. A little imagination can come up with lots of stuff that could utilize this process.

Which of these materials will be held by a magnet, BEST?

Either the polished or raw Nickel Steel. Both nickel and steel are highly magnetic, and durable. Any of the precious metals covering steel would be easily scratched by a magnet. Bronze, brass, and plastic are not magnetic at all, as you know.
I may or may not use this with a magnet, though. I'll have to get it in my hands and make that decision later. Part of me doesn't want to see this get scratched up, and instead use it as a pocket chalker (i.e. mount it to a pocket stick with a small lanyard). I'll see.
Looking forward to receiving it,

I just now saw that there is no FLAT side to this chalk holder. I was hoping to use it as a chalk holder with my magnetic belt clip, but I feel that having no even/flat surfaces for the magnet to hold to, will make it hold less tightly.
Ideally, for me, it would have ONE flat side, that would hold tight to a magnet.
Oh well, it's still A GREAT IDEA!

I just sent Shannon a PM regarding this very subject....
<------dorky league player, gotta have the damned thing in my pocket, now its a routine
Dorky league player?
Hmm... good point. As mentioned, I was kind of hemming and hawing about using this with a magnetic holder. But of all the surfaces, I think the lettered surface is the closest candidate (better than the rounded surfaces introduced by the extruded ball). Or even the bottom, which has a hole in it, but the edges are still substantial enough to hold to a magnet.
Even if this doesn't work, it's still a nice great idea, piece of work, and hopefully excellent craftsmanship.

Yup, I sure am.
Isn't it a required part of the stereotype, league player with his pocket chalker?
I've gotten so used to it that when I grab a house cue somewhere for a quick game, I find myself going to my hip every damned time. I guess that part of my PSR is ingrained
