AZB'ers Metting Up!

I'm curious how many people on this board met here and later met up in real life. I've seen recently there were quite a few who got together and met for the first time.

How about some other stories and pics.

I recently met up with Roel (see pic) who was here (In Shanghai) on business.
We played some pool, drank some beer and I kept him up way past his bed time. A great time was had. Basically the same thing as what I did with 'The One' about 2 months ago when he passed through town.

Roel plays a good game, with one of those crazy loopy philippino cue actions. He didn't tear me a new one, like 'The One' did, but it was getting hard to take games off him by around 3am. I didn't make him drink enough  :p

Anyway, it's cool that guys from here come halfway around the world and catch up with me. It's a small world :D

Colin,

I met ( PERK ) jeremy perkins from here like back in feb or march, and it was only cuz i was talking about some tournaments for the JR BCA and he sent me a PM, so i said something about meeting up and shooting, well low n behold he lives like a mile away from my moms house in Big Rapids, Michigan.

And i was going up to visit the next week. So we met up at a bowling alley that had a bar box and 25cent games lol. played there for a while and then went back to his house and played on his table.

Perk, is a cool guy, and plays a very nice game. I played pretty well at the bowling alley, but back at his place, i swear it was like it never played before lol.

But oh well it happens.

Since I participate on the CCB, as well as this forum, and a lot of other people are on both too, I have to say that I have met too many to count. :D

Almost all were very nice people. The ones who weren't know who they are. :D

I also post on CCB and here and have met tons of people from regular posters to infrequent posters and lurkers. The only person from here that I can think of and posts only here that I've met is The One (Craig).

I was helping out at the Big Apple Tournament from Wednesday thru Sunday. I first saw Craig on Wednesday before the Players meeting and although he was way across the room, I couldn't mistake him. I was tied down to at the "registration" table so I couldn't go over to talk to him. Plus I didn't want to interrupt the ass whoopin' he was getting from Melissa H. and Jennifer B. :D

On Thursday he was getting a whoopin' from Melissa and I walked over to their table and sat down. People usually recognize me either from my tats or from my pic so I sat down and looked at Craig and it took him about maybe 3 seconds to register that it's 9BG. I then forced him to give me hug (teehee) and we chatted a bit. I spoke to Melissa for a bit as well but alas, work was calling.

I saw Rude Dog at the Open last year and I was still a lurker here but I knew from his pic that this was the guy that you all sent to the Open. I also met Bazarus there last year who came up and introduced himself to me.

I suspect that my list of AZBers that I will meet will increase after this year's US Open. :)

I know Iron Chef and DeadStroke.

I've met up with Pharoah68 and Buddha(#)? before and....then NoStroke happened to be at the pool hool too!

I've met QUITE a few people from here at VF Expo this past March.... Will probably meet more at the same event next year.

And you didn't say hi? You woulda had a hard time getting my attention cuz I was floating about 10 feet above everyone else, lost in my own little world. :D I met up with Purdy and his wife, great people, and Bazarus, who was my rooommate, and Keith's better half, JAM. For those of you that haven't had the pleasure to meet JAM and watch her sweat one of Keith's matches, you are definitely missing out. :D Also JKJerry, sweatinbettin, TomnCincy, and a few others who's names escape me right now. All really nice people that I hope to meet again someday soon. Peace, John.

I would've said Hi, only thing was that I saw your pic on here from the Open afterwards. I never forget a face. I remember asking Bazarus who was the guy that was sent to play but you weren't around at the moment.

Ok, I'll say Hi next time (I always do when I recognize someone). I'll also have to force you to give me a hug too!

There was a handfull of AZ'ers at the Mid West Expo/Open in October 2004.
JOEY, Eydie & Bob Romano, John Barton, Blud, myself and 3-4 others that I've forgotten their names. (sorry)

JOEY's significant other, my wife and 2 boys, Rodney Morris, Mrs. Mathews (Grady's wife) were a couple other people who joined us.

There isnt enough AZB'ers around my town of Louisiana to meet and those that were from New Orleans.............well it will be a while before I can finally meet them!

The rec.sport.billiard USENET forum have had over a dozen get-togethers. Usually, we have a tournament. There have been RSB tournaments in several different states as well as a half-dozen of what has been called the Great White North (GWN) tournament, held in Toronto.

The CCBoarders have been getting together annually at the US Open 9-ball tournament.

Several of us see each other yearly at the BCA Nationals in Las Vegas in May and/or the SuperBilliardsExpo in Valley Forge in March.

I think I've met over a hundred internet posters, many of them post here at AZBilliards as well as the other forums.

Bite your tongue, Fred... we've already had 15 GWN's and the next one in September will be number 16.

Rec.sport.billiard (RSB) newsgroup is the first meeting place for me fellow internets pool buffs.

I met AZ billiards' Mike Howerton about 5 years ago at the US Open.
There is a photo album of the Billiards Digest Cue Chalk Board forum's first US Open tournament right here on AZ Billiards.

CCB US Open 2002 Pics

Pictures of 9BallGirl, VooDoo Daddy, Eric., Rich R and yours truely are amonst a group of CCB tournament players.

I had the opportunity to meet a few az'ers at the Midwest Expo, Orlando Open, and Valley Forge (2 years ago) along with people at Viking Tour.

I met Daytona Joe, Blackjack, One PocketChump, and have already known Bob and Eydie and Mike Janis. Oh, I can't forget that I met Mike Howerton at the Reno Open! I also see John Barton all many different events like the APA Team Nationals (thanks for the t-shirts John)! I also met Marissa.
