AZers and IKE?

I live in Pearland. I boarded up my house and got out on Wednesday of last week. My neighbor who is a Brazoria County deputy tells me my house made out without any major damage although my neighborhood was severely damaged. Are there any other AZers out there that were affected? How did Caspers do in San Leone? The place was only a few hundred yards from the bay but the room owner built it like a bunker.

The wind storm from Ike hit the Ohio Kentucky and Indiana area and caused over 900,000 power outages. Some people will be without power for 7 days from just the wind wow. I feel for the people more directly affected

I have an aunt that lives in Pearland, a friend in downtown Houston, and another friend just north of downtown.

My aunt's house was in good shape, and she went back home yesterday. My uncle owns a fleet of helicopters and he was back in Houston on Sunday to fly workers out to the oil rigs.

My friend in downtown was ok. He lives in a hi-rise on the 5th floor. He said he has no power but thankfully they were ok.

My friend in northern Houston had a tree uprooted and fall on his neighbor's truck. they had some flooding in the neighborhood, but his family was all ok.

We had to sweat it out for a couple of nights with no lights or A/C out in Katy. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people without power.

There is lots of dammage in some areas of the city, but we were fortunate and only had some fences, tree limbs and shingle dammage in our area.

We lostpower here in Lafayette for 3 days with Gustav, nothing but wind and rain from Ike. I work in the oil and gas industry (may have just created a bunch of new enemies by stating that). Several of our facilities sustained pretty heavy damage, and most of our field employees (those who go to rigs offshore) have not gone back to work as the rigs are still being assessed for damages. I have coworkers who live in League City and Clearlake that have damaged homes.

I also think Richard Black, Jerry Olivier, Toeboy, Roger Allen, and a couple of other cuemakers may have had issues but am not sure. We still have many areas without power in SW Louisiana from Lake Charles to Houma up to Baton Rouge as noted above. Many homes were flooded in Gustav near Houma and Morgan City, and from what I understand, 1800 additional homes were flooded when Ike came through.

We just crank up the generator, put a small window unit in one bedroom, fill the propane tanks to grill food, and get to work!

Well, my area was considerably impacted by Ike, as well as a few other storms at the same time. I live in NW Indiana, just outside of Chicago, and on the southern tip of Lake Michigan. It rained for almost 48 hours straight over the weekend and I've heard it explained that we were hit by multiple storms, one after another. I guess there was a Pacific hurricane that as it's remnants moved across the U.S., it met up with the remnants of Ike from down south. In addition to these storms, there was a particular front system moving through, so we just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time for a strange occurrance of events. My in-laws had (past tense) boat slips on a tributary of Lake Michigan. The slips are pretty-well wiped out, all the boats either sank in their slips or broke loose and floated downstream. When the boats made it to the lake, they were tossed up against a breakwall, then all the garbage from the boats and slips was washed up onto the beaches. There is also considerable flooding throughout the area and the (2) counties where I'm at have been declared disaster areas. Take a look at some of the pics on our local newspaper website: http://www.thetimesonline.com/

Yep, Ike got us in the upper Midwest!
