AZs very own Cardiac Kid vs Tin Man Live from turning stone

Just wanted to say hey to those who sweated this match from AZB. Appreciate your support. And great shooting to my opponent. He had a great attitude and fought hard. Can't play your best all the time but I enjoyed the contest.
Thanks for giving the spectators a bunch of great matches. We haven’t met, but I followed your progress on Saturday while I was there, and you are another of my new favorites.
Good job Demetrius!

Awesome! Thank you Rick!

There were definitely some dramatic finishes. I had a 9-8 win that involved maybe the greatest kick shot I've ever made. Then last night I had a squeaker with that guy from Kuwait, Bader. I was down 7-6 and came with a great shot to tie it, then at 7-7 I made the 9 ball combo of my career to go on the hill. He blundered the next game and I won 9-7, but I put some heat on him too so I'll take it. But yeah, definitely some excitement.

My match with Earl was fine. I blundered hard at 6-4, if I go 5-6 and breaking it's a close set. Instead he wins and runs away with it after that. But I played super solid to get to 4-6 so I can't be too hard on myself. The biggest issue was I got hooked off 3 of my wet breaks and scratched on two others. That cut break is very volatile. I ran 2-3 racks off my break all of my other matches, the match with Earl it just didn't roll my way. So while I blundered, I had been facing an uphill grind all set. Oh, and he's playing a great tournament too. He's very calm and collected and playing the best I've seen him play for a while, so I'm not acting like I have to dog it to lose it to him. I'm hoping he finishes strong.

Anyway, time to go back to MN. I have a student coming in W-F, then next week I head down to the Derby. That will be my last tournament for a while so I have to enjoy them when I can.

Next time introduce yourself! I love meeting AZers!

The breaks where there is no decent shot after the break are almost catastrophic at that level. Your play seemed to click up a notch every round and you capitalized on opportunities often. Some really well hit safeties from you too.

And next time I will stop and talk. Thanks for that.
