Hi everyone, I just got home from the Riviera in Vegas. The last 10 days have been filled with great pool. Although I played poorly and won very little from the casino, I had a great vacation. I met Bob and Eydie Romano and really enjoyed sweating a couple of matches with them. If any of you people can possibly make it to one of their tournaments, please do so. They will do a lot for our sport if we show them our support.
I met a lot of new people whose names and reputations I recognized, and had the pleasure watching them play. There have been comments made on this board before about league players, {about their level of play} Let me assure you there are some great 8 ball and 9 ball players at the Riviera during the month of May. Rob Mattson, Derek Mcmaster, Stan Tourangeau, Nick Kruger, Glen Atwell, Ty wilson, Steve Oaks, Brian Gregg and a multitude of other great players.
I was inducted into the VNEA Hall of Fame with 4 other guys starting with Ty Wilson from Minnesota. His team won the Masters title again and they are a great team.
Also inducted were Robert Ross from Toronto, Don Tanner from Pierre, s. Dakota, and Steve Guilford from Defiance, Ohio.
I watched the womens amateur player of the year Tammie Jones Play some absolutely great pool and win the 8 ball title again. In one match her opponent only had one shot in a race to 6 -8 ball as Tammie ran out every turn at the table. Her final match she won 6-0 playing loser break.
I also had the pleasure of playing in the scotch doubles with a young lady from Iowa. Her name is Jessica Frideres. I was very impressed with her abilities at the table and know we will see her name a lot in the future.
Sorry this got so long, It's great to be back home. Sam
