Back pain = change stance?

I hope you get better .i have major problems from an old accident/surgery..i take several Lortab everyday for my neck.but when my back really goes out Vicodin works better on it..also 24/7 be aware of your posture.constantly sitting straight up and standing as straight as you can will help to align your spine better.IF you can loose some weight a hanging belly really adds to alot of back problems....if you haven't i would suggest checking out back/spinal injury forums on the internet for ideas..when a person suffers like this forget about what OTHER people may think of you if you stand awkward..only people that have this problem can really understand ..sincerly the best to you Cj.:)also i am on mega vitamins and Osteo BiFlex supplement..every person i have recommended Osteo BiFlex supplement to states it works..IF you decide to take this supplement it will take 2 to 4 weeks to feel any improvement..of course if your condition is severe there is a chance it may not work..another suggestion take in ALOT of water, your body is made of mostly water and it will help the ligaments/discs..at our age also we are fighting degenerative disc disease.Take care...

CaptainJR...Just so you know, it makes ZERO difference how high or low your body is, in relation to the table. The important thing is that the cuestick is as level as reasonable when shooting. Many players of old stood nearly straight up as they played (unless they were stretched out over the table), in many cases because they were too big/heavy to bend over much. Others just chose the higher stance. The most important thing is to understand that it doesn't matter...as long as you can 'free-swing' the cue, and it's level when you strike the CB. Remember...followthrough is the RESULT of a good finish, not the cause! K.I.S.S. rules...:D

Very good post.........just look at the Great Minnesota Fats stance.:)

Thanks for posting this

I suffer from similar back issues and I am now having numbness in my right hand at times so bab i can barely feel the cue butt :( usually after an hour or so of play !

Thank you all so much for the caring replies. There were a couple of them that I thought might specifically help me. For example, 'Extending my back foot more', I haven't tried that yet and thinking about it I'm anxious to give it a try and see if it helps. I'm going to go buy that book that was mentioned, "7 Steps to a Pain-Free Life: How to Rapidly Relieve Back and Neck Pain". I think I might raise my table in the basement a few inches. Maybe even 6 inches, I'm the only one that uses it anyway. First I think I'm going to take a complete break for a few weeks.

Back in the late 1990's just before I quit golfing because of my back, I was not able to accept the deterioration of my game. I went from a 6 handicap to a 14 in two years. I can't imagine my pool game taking that big a dive by just having to stand up straighter. I know I started my last reply on this post with "Giving up", but that was a very bad day after a very painful weekend that started after playing pool Saturday afternoon. I'm still hoping through exercise and stance adjustments, I can enjoy this great game and hopefully remain at least somewhat successful at playing.

For those of you who mentioned having similar problems, I wish you all well.

Thanks again
JR
