Back to Pyro vs. V10?

I recently switched to TAOM V10 from Masters, mainly because it does not leave a mess on the table or ball and I have elk horn ferrels so using the lighter blue is almost like the silver I used in Masters. This chalk plays very nice I will likely continue to use it. If the cylinder of chalk lasts a year that's about as long as I get from a entire box of Masters. Out of habit I chalk after each shot, however with the TAOM I do not feel it's necessary but I still will. When I get a new tip I shape it and from then on only use a tapper, I never clean my shafts with anything only use a burnisher. The only time my shafts get cleaned is when I am having new tips installed.

Hear me out, anyone else feel like V10 can get caky? The coverage is great at first but then the next day I have to wipe it off, and start with new coats? The pyro can do the same but not as bad both seem to attract moisture from the air, and my house is extremely dry. I love the coverage of v10 don't get me wrong and especially on my white diamond jump break tip, But I feel like pyro has a little more gritty and I'm grabbing the cue ball a little better? Both chalks are great and are extremely clean. Either way I was just curious on others feedback.
I agree with you on the V10. I've gone back to using Pyro. Plus I hate green chalk :)

I currently have both, V10 does not cake on me. Pyro is more apt to cake on the tip. Both are good but go v10 if you have a choice.

I think the main issue is that the Taom is not as abrasive. Masters and other abrasive chalks do a good job of grinding a tiny bit of your tip away each time you use it. I actually need to scuff my tip once in a while when I use the Taom.
Agreed. I use Pyro and I'd say I'm scuffing my tip about once a month, which is more often than I did before using it.

Regarding Pyro v V10, I've yet to have anyone adequately explain why V10 is better. So my five pieces of Pyro I have (ie, practically a lifetime supply) should suffice. It's also easier to play with blue chalk most places. Even if V10 doesn't transfer much to the cloth, I don't want to have to try to explain that to someone who has blue cloth on their table.

It's claimed to be cleaner which mine was at the beginning not sure if it's dried out or what but it's more messy with flaking on my table than pyro. V10 you paint on where I find with pyro it's more traditional in its application. The pyro is more gritty. Both are great chalks but I switched back to pyro I didn't like the green marks on my simonis.

Nope. No issues with the v10 and I was amazed after a month of playing almost every day I had no mess on my table when I cleaned it.

I like the green stuff. Use both. My hands are clean. I think it's a wash price wise. I don't need the $10 a can chemical shit every time I vacuum. Hardly ever miscue unless the windshield elbow wiper appears. That's on me.

I am using both V10 and Pyro depending on the color of the table cloth. They are both the best I know of and last for a long long time. On my home table I am even supplying the Pyro. The standard Masters or similar leaves too much dust to become embedded in the cloth.

Seems to me that V10 last longer. I'm not having to chalk as often as the Pyro. V10 is cleaner then Pyro. I had more miscues with Pyro. Besides the green color i like V10 better, but i've gotten use to the green color.

I just received a half dozen pieces of the pink (my cloth is wine coloured) and it hardly shows at all and is very clean. On the tip it looks almost whitish as opposed to pink. So far, I am very pleased with it. Excellent product.

No real pool player would ever admit that they have wine colored cloth:ROFLMAO:

I must be in the vast majority (Doh! MINORITY!!!), but I just don't get along with V10. I don't know if it matters, but I mostly play 3 cuhion. I sure seemed to get more miscues with V10 than with my old cubes of Masters. It is very clean, and seems to last a LONG time, but I just lost confidence with it on certain shots. I'm relatively certain it is a "me" issue, but can't get it out of my head.

I'm sure the Triangle I used to use on my home table was messier, but due to the tournament blue colour I only saw it if I happened to wipe down the table with a white cloth. I have found that the V10 for all the hype does build up in areas. Mainly the ledge of the pocket slate and the top of the facings.

I left the above pic purposely large so you can easily see the V10 ghosting lines. I just recently lengthened the rails without changing the cloth and found this ghosting on each pocket facing. Normally you would write this off to regular cloth wear of the balls wearing a track during impact. I can say with full confidence that this table has not seen that level of play since I installed the cloth. It's also hard to tell in the pic but the lines are very clearly the V10 green in colour.

I'll add that I do not make a habit of cleaning the table. However I haven't gone through even half a piece of V10 since I started using it. About a year of play....
