Thanks Hadj.
As far as the spelling, well, You would probably know better then I

It could actually be spelled both ways By me, depending on state of mind i'm in the day I use it in a sentence, LOL. You should know Me better then that by now, and know I'm the wrong person to ask about spelling

Not one of My strong suits dude. The coco I have had a habit of spelling both ways also, but most of the time with a "o" I think. I guess if I was writing a formal letter I would spell check alittle better though. As far as I know both spellings are usually supposed to be the same wood, altough I could be wrong, and there could be more species

with both spellings.
I have seen It spelled both ways though, but probably only one is correct. I believe Mine is from mexico, altough I hear there are species of it near My area also, and I'm on the hunt. I know there are different species, but have only seen the biological names for them, and the areas they come from.
I was suprised at how many species of maple there were. I guess I knew there was quite a few, but there are alot more then I would have guessed.
As alot of people probably know, With alot of woods the species are named different even though they are basically the same wood with maybe only a slight difference depending on the region they come from. With shaft wood those slight differences could make a difference in feel. Take sugar maple/rock maple/ hard maple whatever you want to call it, for an example, you can go to a state, and there will be different species of it, with seperate qualities depending on where it grows in that state north, south, east, or west will have different names. They probably all started out the same species at one time, but don't know what their missing link is. Just that they have evolved into many species depending on the climate and conditions around them. Kind of puts a different spin on the evolution tree. actually talking about trees this time.
Anyway pretty sure the coco is cocobolo. The cote, well I spell both ways, and have seen it spelled both ways, but that really tells me nothing about where it come from anyway, just a general term for many species.
Maybe you could give me some more insite on the cote. what region do you prefer it come from?
Greg
