Hi Joe,

I'm not sure on this one yet, depends on a few of the people I need to take care of still, but never know. It's still in the design stage. All I did was make the sleeve up. I am still trying to decide how the rest will go. the ebony is just sitting on top, so I could get a better mental view of My options.None of it is glued up yet.
I built that sleeve one night recently after seeing another bacote in a different style, but noticed that the grain did not match up throughout the sleeve, and this was a very expensive cue I saw that in. It puzzled me that a cue that cost that much did not have the grains lined up, infact the parts even looked like they came from different pieces of bacote. The cue was beautifully done, the grains just did not match up, and was the first thing I noticed. It seemed simple enough to to do, and have done something like before, so this prompted Me to do one, and cut the pieces off so they go back in place where they line up. It's a slight bit more work & planning, but I think that small attention to detail there makes a difference in the look. Just My personal opinion though. I like the look, kind of wish I would have done the buttsleeve on my personal like that.
I'll keep you updated on It. I was Just showing a few of you that have asked what I am working on recently. may have some other pics of stuff in the works after I do some more tapering.

They can be done in several combinations. I have'nt explored all of them yet, but as I am able to make more trim billet, different designs will come up.
I got too much to catchup on, and It will be a while before I can get to you guys, but your designs are being considered as I go, and I'll try to fit them into the mix as I am able to get some extra stuff going. I have some commitments, and am still experiementing, but will share as they come up. Just let me know when you see something, and I'll make a note. Thanks for your interest guys, I love doing this as a hobby, and it's good to see I could stay busy with it. Too bad the repair has me so tied up, but that's what got me where I am, so have to stick with it. Wish I could do it fulltime though. Thanks Greg

Nice pics Greg.... anyways, is it BOCOTE OR BACOTE? I know it as BOcote... same as with COCOBOLO or COCOBOLA... I know it as cocobolo...

HadjCues

Thanks Hadj.

As far as the spelling, well, You would probably know better then I :D It could actually be spelled both ways By me, depending on state of mind i'm in the day I use it in a sentence, LOL. You should know Me better then that by now, and know I'm the wrong person to ask about spelling :p Not one of My strong suits dude. The coco I have had a habit of spelling both ways also, but most of the time with a "o" I think. I guess if I was writing a formal letter I would spell check alittle better though. As far as I know both spellings are usually supposed to be the same wood, altough I could be wrong, and there could be more species ;) with both spellings.
I have seen It spelled both ways though, but probably only one is correct. I believe Mine is from mexico, altough I hear there are species of it near My area also, and I'm on the hunt. I know there are different species, but have only seen the biological names for them, and the areas they come from.
I was suprised at how many species of maple there were. I guess I knew there was quite a few, but there are alot more then I would have guessed.
As alot of people probably know, With alot of woods the species are named different even though they are basically the same wood with maybe only a slight difference depending on the region they come from. With shaft wood those slight differences could make a difference in feel. Take sugar maple/rock maple/ hard maple whatever you want to call it, for an example, you can go to a state, and there will be different species of it, with seperate qualities depending on where it grows in that state north, south, east, or west will have different names. They probably all started out the same species at one time, but don't know what their missing link is. Just that they have evolved into many species depending on the climate and conditions around them. Kind of puts a different spin on the evolution tree. actually talking about trees this time.

Anyway pretty sure the coco is cocobolo. The cote, well I spell both ways, and have seen it spelled both ways, but that really tells me nothing about where it come from anyway, just a general term for many species.

Maybe you could give me some more insite on the cote. what region do you prefer it come from?

Greg
