Balabushka chalk

Most people on here say it sucks, but here in Brazil it holds real well for me and I only have 6 boxes left, I like it. The company went out of business like 2 years ago and there is no more being made.

Balabushka chalk is great .....

to give to your opponents so they will miscue ! I know because that is exactly what I did after I figured out it was worthless as chalk and caused miscues. Are we allowed to say KRAP ?

Has anyone tried Balabushka chalk?

Thanks
Hey...i don't know, or really care what anyone else says. I've been using Balabushka chalk for a few years now and am down to my last piece. I personally like it over any other chalk I've used. I know I haven't been able to find any more...

It all depends....

... if you get the Balabushka chalk that is unsigned, that is the best. The signed stuff is new and pressed into cubes in a sweatshop by 6 year old Chinese kids and it may contain lead paint... :D

The miscue is in the stroke, cause I don't miscue, hardly ever and have been using Balabushka chalk for 2 years.

thanks for saying what i was thinking. Miscued last night once but it was because I hit the cue ball way too low for the stroke I was using. Other than that I don't remember the last time I miscued. I use Balabushka chalk almost every time I play.

Then there must be some quality differences in batches.

I agree miscues can be caused by bad stroke. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I had a box and gave some of it away to 5 other players and all of them complained it was crap and threw theirs away. Funny, how as soon as cleaned off the tips of my cues and went back to Master chalk, the miscues completely stopped. That doesn't make sense. Maybe it was a bad batch, but it was definitely crap chalk. TOTALLY CRAP.

I don't know when you got yours, but I got mine when it first came out several years ago with the Balabushka signature when Cowboy Billiards was selling it on eBay. At first, I thought it was okay, but after using it daily for a week, it seemed to get slick and not grab any longer. I use what some say is "Squirt' English instead of center ball English on some shots and that is where it really miscued. The other players had it and when I checked back with them after a week and asked what they thought, they all said they had gotten rid of it because they miscued and it was junk or something else to that effect. I worked in a pool room and gave it away to see if it was something we might want to bring in. The verdict was no way. Also, with Master, I can masse like a beast. I tried masse' with that chalk and that was the dead give away it was crap. miscued every time.

We must have gotten two totally different chalks then. The stuff I use is extremely good, soft and holds the cue ball nicely. Not one time ever had an issue.

I have played without chalk for 2-3 hours at a time. At a home room where there was none. Chalk helps, but if you make a bad move at the ball, you will miss cue with or without chalk

What kind of tips do you play with?

I only use the hardest pigskin tips such as Kamui Hard or Moori Quick. Can you produce extreme English reverse kick shots or extreme masse with one of these without roughing up the tips if you aren't using chalk? I know I can't. And I rarely rough up my tips. Add Master chalk and yeah, those shots are no problem for me. Maybe I need to learn from you how to do these shots with a hard tip and no chalk. That would really build an awesome stroke. Please give me some pointers. I say this not in gest. I would love to improve my stroke.

I think the trick is to put yourself in a position where you don't have to use extreme english or extreme masse. I know that when I miscue it is my fault not the chalks fault. IMO

Tell that to my opponents... please

I don't usually put myself into that position. My opponents do. It's called defence or defense. Come to think of it, it happened twice last night in a tournament. I made the kick once into the corner the first time and fouled hitting a blocking ball the second time I was handed the similar shot.

Balabuska chalk is just fine

I use it and I really like it. I still have half a box left but when it gone thats the end of it so it back to masters.

It this what your's looked like, cause there is no signature anywhere on the box or on the cubes themselves. I really like the chalk even better than Masters. What works for me might not work for the next. For me it stays on the tip real smooth not gritty, and love the Robin's Egg blue for the color.
I use Moori Hard tips, and this chalk sticks better to the tip than Masters does. Maybe it's the humid climate here in Brazil that makes it stick, but I don't think so, cause it goes on smooth not cakey or gritty and works well.

I got two pieces when I bought a shaft from American Cowboy Billiards on E-bay. I lost one and used the other one until it was too small to hold on to. I loved it and wish I had more.

Blue Diamond all the way

Platinum Billiards did a study on chalk. Here are the results: Master chalk is the best.

Any test that does not include Blue Diamond is bogus in my eyes. I recently used a cube and was so impressed with how it reduced squirt off the tip that I will never go back. I can reduce my stroke speed by a quarter and still get the same results when drawing the ball and I had to move my tip about a half tip in on shots to get the same amount of side on it. Any chalk that allows you to hit the ball softer and closer to center is an improvement.

I also did a test by rolling some Masters between my fingers and some Blue Diamond and the Blue Diamond had a nice tacky feel to it while the Masters felt much slicker. When I was playing at league last night I DID miscue, but then I realized that I accidentally grabbed some Master's off the rail.

The only problem is the cost and availability. It is usually $5-7 for a box of two cubes, but worth every red cent!!!

Holy Thread re-introduction

If you look at the previous thread, you will find a lot of people that had the same experience as I had and thought the stuff is junk. Their descriptions are pretty right on. A lot threw theirs away also. I guess if there are people stupid enough to pay $60 for a box of it today, I was stupid to have not stuck it away for stupid people. However as you will see in the thread, Jeffrey Gale hoarded up on the last 10 boxes, so I guess he is ready to sell some to stupid people for the going rate and definitely is going to say all good things about it, which makes him smarter than me.
