Balance question

Has the traditional balance of cues changed over the last few years?

I am not an expert on where the balance should be and therefore am asking this question so the knowledgeable people can answer. I believe typically the balance should be somewhere about 18-19 inches from the bottom. ( Guessing here) But now we have many cues going to 60 inches plus. We have extensions place in the middle of the cue and also attached to the butt. We many players holding the cue toward the very end of the butt. Wraps have been moved lower on some cues.

So I ask the cuemakers, are you balancing the cues any different today than maybe 10 years ago?

With these changes I have mentioned where should the balance be? And I am sure one of the answers is "where ever it feels right." And I understand that. But I would like to hear from the buliders their thoughts.

Curious minds want to know:rolleyes:

I think most players like a cue that balances 19 from the butt. Most of the production cues balance shorter than that because they are rear weighted...

As a player, I think the balance point isn't the same for every person.

What I mean is that, for my wing span and bridging style, I hold the butt of every cue I have about three inches behind the balance point and my bridge is about 8-10 inches.

I don't think everyone is comfortable doing it the way that feels right for me. I think the cue should be balanced for the individuals's particular playing mechanics and body.
