Balance Rite Extension?

Has anyone tried the Balance Rite cue extension? I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on how it performed. Thanks. :)

I have one. I haven't used it much. It works fine. Feels and hits like a normal cue. It adds a little weight but not that much. It fits my Predator quick release as well as the shaft does. It's kind of a pain to drag it out, break down the cue to put it on. I find I'd rather just grab the bridge.

Thanks. I was wondering also if anyone had tried shooting with it on a regular basis, like full-time for several games.

I think it's more for tall people who want a long cue all the time. There are extensions out there that come with a threaded bumper that screw right into the butt of the cue. These are better

Balance Rite

I've got one I used with a Nova 60" cue and I love it. I shot with it for several months. It was a seamless connection and played great. I did not take it on and off. I shot all the time with it and it played fine. At the same time, I had Schmelke sneaky with a butt extension and the balance rite was much better.

I'm a cue whore and sold the Nova so I don't have a cue it fits any longer. If I still had a cue it fit I would probably still play it. Good luck with it.

I have one of these for my Joss and did/do play with the extension in at all times. I'm about 6'3" and like to have the longer cue. It suits my long arms and the fact that I tend to use a long bridge. I tried it with my OB-2 and my stock Joss shafts... fits perfectly flush with no discernible gaps.

Personally, I find that the hit is just ever so slightly softer than without the extension. And if I'm loose gripping the cue, the sound is a little different. Not in a bad way, mind you. And I really had to listen and think about differences to find those. In normal play, you wouldn't notice either one.

I'm probably going to get one in 3/8x10 for my alternate playing cue.

Love mine 3/8ths -10, right around .840. On my Gilbert, it matches perfectly. As a short guy, it doesn't take long at all to get used to and I can reach shots that are otherwise unreachable.

James Roberts says he shoots with the extension all the time. He's a pretty tall guy with the wing span to match.

Great Product

I used a 3/8 x 10, as mentioned above the collar measures .840, and fit on my McDermott quite well. All of the quick release or piloted joints will fit perfectly.

This is an entirely different device than an extender you would attach over the butt cap of your cue. The Balance Rite is not made to be used as an extension you take on and off so you can reach Whitey from a greater distance.

This device extends the length or your SHAFT about 4 inches. In doing so weight is added in front of the FOREARM, moving the balance point of the cue FORWARD.

Very cool device and well made too. A taller player may decide to use one at all times to make their cue fit their stroke.

I'm 5' 11" and find that a 58" cue is a nice length for my wing span.

I used this device, in conjunction with a hand full of butt bolts, to experiment with the weight, length and balance of my cue to formulate preferences that would allow me to have a custom cue built to the exact specs that I felt were best for me.

This little thing is really neat. I felt like Earl when I screwed in my butt extender with it :D

I actually consider the Balance Rite to be an educational tool.

Good luck.

When these came out, they didn't have one available with threads to match my joint. I had my local cue maker fabricate one and it came out great.

It puts the weight forwards and that makes stroking with it feel very comfortable. I'm tall and have long arms, and using the extension permits me to stroke naturally with my stick-for once I can hold the cue at the wrap like normal folks. With a 58" cue my grip is always on the end of the butt or hanging off of it.

People comment that I've been playing better since I've begun using it. Everyone who tries it remarks that it hits nice, much better than they would expect.

Only downside is once you start playing out with it, you'll soon realize how close some of the walls behind you are to the tables at your local haunts.

My friend has one and he puts it on his second shaft when playing and uses it only when he needs to reach, doing this he saves some time putting it off and on. He´s very satisfied with the performance of it.

I myself uses a extension in the back, found it easier and makes things more fluid when I play and needs that extra for reach.

Balance shifts of course but to get a similar feel when you play with it I usually (goes automatic) use a longer bridge.

If I meet him today I will try and play with his cue with the extension and see what happens, probably the bridge will stay close to the same on the "ordinary shots" and just shifts on the longer reach shots.

I also have a 64 inch cue in my collection and have played with several longer cues - up to 65,5 inch long and when done "good" (evenly balanced) they shoot great - QP cues.

Hmmm, you can play good with a short stick a long stick, different strokes ......... if you use the "NEP" technique, "No Excuse Pool" :), just do what has to be done.

Good thing about any extension is that it doesn't modify the original cue. You can take it off if you don't like it. Chalk it up to lesson learned.

Ya know, for as many people that have bashed the extension because it's a hassle to break down the cue, this solution actually seems so much better, even though you are only taking out one extra step. Doing this would probably keep you in the clear for the "breaking down your cue" forfeit rule.

That's why I like the mess extension type or the built in that Kevin deroo or zac cues uses

I've been using the balance rite for a couple years now. I'm 6'2" with long wing span. Love it. Can't play without it. With an added butt extension, I hardly ever need a bridge.
