Ball Replacement Specifications

How do you tell when it is time to replace a set of balls other than visual damage? I know they get smaller over time. Is there a standard ball to ball weight and size tolerance that I can measure?

I have a set of Aramith Super Pros for my home table and average an hour a day of play at home. I have had this set for 8 years and they seem to be fine. Anyone have any ideas on the lifetime of the Aramith Super Pros?

If they look good and rack well I don't see you needing new balls anytime soon with the amount you play. Super Pros are good balls and last a long time if taken care of. If you use a ball polishing machine a lot or any kind of abrasive they might wear a bit faster. Johnnyt

I have a really accurate set of scales, purchased specifically for weighing balls and super Aramith Pro Cup balls weigh 6.003 ounces when new, and fair remarkably well over years and years of daily club play.

I weighed cheaper balls, non-Aramith, used every day in a club, that have lost over half an ounce in weight since they were new - that's hard club play, but it's also an incredibly high percentage of the balls original weight!

It's the same with size, (of course)... So you really do pay for what you get - obviously, "fun" players simply don't seem to notice and therefore don't mind.
